looks cool indeed.
but lack of Bluetooth is something to cry about..
and what sort of OS will there be, what apps will run on this? Its success will highly depend on that.
Very nice piece of hardware. Tempting...

Is it similar to the Nokia N800 line?

Nokia Nx0 internet tablets are based on an open platform.
IMO this is their main competitive advantage - Mylo's /typically for Sony/ are based on some closed and proprietary OS. Hence - the lack of 3rd party programs......

If interested in the closed Mylo platform, you can pick up the older model for under $200 (look around, my local SonyStyle store was selling them for $130). Smaller screen (not touch sensitive), slightly older software. 1GB memory built in.
It is a closed platform (Qtopia Linux but 'TIVO-ized'). There are many standard apps built in (IM, web browsing, music and movie viewing etc). No 3rd party apps.
The Nokia N800 is a vastly superior device (IMHO), including an open platform for writing/installing 3rd party software. The cheaper N800 (under $250) doesn't have a hardware keyboard, but you can easily attach a bluetooth one.

For the price, it's alright. But the ux50 STILL beats it out. 3 years affter they made it, and it's still the best...Sony, I love you.
(I'd love you more if you updated the UX series though)

It does look sexy but very limited with 3rd party apps unlike the UX.

if it could run palm os, yeah it might be a good device. Finally a good palm with skype on it, very nice deal :)

Palm OS's success is in it's ability to so readily accept 3rd party programs. With them upgrading to a linux based system, it can only get better.
What I actually like the best about the ux is the clam shell, based in a landscape format, and with Portrait to rotate the screen so the device fits in your hand better when it is in tablet form. I have yet to see a device that can do that. Instead companies are making phones and PDAs that slide. That frame results in a full key board that you would need toothpicks to operate without pressing adjacent keys.
All touch screens that open like a laptop force you to have the device open, making actually using the device a bit more than extremely annoying.
They UX, wasn't a compromise, it's the best of both worlds.
