How effective do you think the Zire ads are going to be at ClieSource?

Probably about as effective as the Microsoft ad I saw on Slashdot the other day.

here is something about advertising. Do you remember the ad? If the answer is yes then it has done its job - implanting the name in your head.

However, I'm sure they're also measuring click-through rates and, ultimately, trying to link actual sales to the ads. Let's at least pretend this campaign is wildly successful so they continue to buy ad space on ClieSource and help fund its continued existence. :D

This can backfire all too easily. For example, in the humble burg in which I reside, there is a company by the name of "Totally Awesome Computers". This company has the most obnoxious ads in the history of television. On the flip-side, their products and services are rated fairly highly. Several people who I have discussed this company react with disgust at the mere mention of the name. A memorable commercial is definitely essential, but ponder this one: anyone who has had a boot connected firmly with their groin is not likely to forget the sensation either...
