Ok, here is what maybe considered a dumb question, but it's hard for me to understand what the descripion on the page is saying.. And I haven't read any of the other posts on it.. So I have to ask this question.

In Layman's terms, What does Wondersilk do? Thanks for the reply.

Just think of it as a virtual graffiti area with some extra functions, such as up, down, left, right, number keys, program assignments, and even some audio player functions (play, stop, FF, etc.).

The cool thing about it is that it comes with a desktop program where you can create / edit your own wondersilk, so you can really have a one of a kind silk area to show it off to your friend.

I agree that there's a lot of info, but not much of it's very clear...

Given that the primary source is broken english at best, I still have questions. Such as, I download a WonderSilk skin and it includes a PDB file, a GIF file, and a WSB file. Which of these do I need to install? All? Or is the GIF just to show you the skin before installing? And does the WSB need to be manually (non-Hot Synced) installed to a MemoryStick?

Inquiring minds want to know...

You need to import a WSB via the Kinumaru app to get a PDB file which is the file you use on the PDA. The gif is just a preview. and a WSB is the template, kind of.

Not to be a simpleton, but...

So if I have a WonderSilk PDB (and the WonderSilk PRC already installed, of course), all I need to do is install it via standard Hot Sync? No Kinumaru app...?

Erhh, no.
The kinumaru app is the silk screen plug-in. The PDB is the skin for it. But if you have a pdb you don't need to import it, but can install it via hotsync. You know many formats are not supported in internal RAM. So you won't be able to get a WSB into RAM without any card.

Just to clarify...

The WonderSilk app is a "Silk Plug-in" that provides customizable Virtual Graffiti functionality. It is activated by tapping the Silk Plug-in icon (fourth from the left) on your status bar. A Skin file must first be "assigned" using the Kinu-Maru app.

The Kinu-Maru app is a "control" or "manager" app that allows you to assign which skin gets used by the WonderSilk Silk Plug-in. It also allows you to import .wsb files from your Memory Stick to create the .prc skin files. It also allows you to assign user-defined "pastable text" (if supported by the installed Skin file) as well as user-definable launchable apps buttons (if supported by the installed Skin file.)

Skin files are Palm .prc files that are used by the WonderSilk Silk Plug-in and controlled or managed by the Kinu-Maru app.

All of the above will work from either RAM or Flash using JackFlash.

The WonderMaker app is a Windows program that create, read, edit, and write .wsb files. This is the "construction" app where a skin developer builds the skin by adding graphic images and applying function properties to the graphic images. The resulting .wsb files are transferred to the Memory Stick using the MSImport app. Once on the Memory Stick, the Kinu-Maru app is then used to "import" the .wsb file into the Clie's RAM and convert it into a .prc file.

There are a number of skins available here on the ClieSource Forum as well as at (shameless plug) my wondersilkskins.com site.

For more information, just do a search on this forum for "WonderSilk"

I tried for two days to down load wondersilk and wonder maker, but was stymied. The links to download seem to simply open up a new identical page. Here's the link I used: http://www.maicca.com/

What is the secret?

Oh, there's no secret. The simple fact is that the site can be picky at times.

Unfortunatly, the author has requested that everyone go to his site to download the software. So, that's what I do...and then as a personal backup measure, I just keep the latest version of WonderSilk and WonderMaker stored on my site here (http://www.g04.com/files/WonderSilk0125.zip) and here (http://g04.com/html/files/WonderMakerApp0125.zip). ;)

Thanks! Your downloads were not picky at all!
