Since the backup/restore options I tried to move from my old TX to my new resulted in failure I rebuilt the new one from scratch. I'm hoping someone can tell me a way to migrate settings from Dmitry's apps over. I've browsed around in RescoExplorer but found nothing obvious. Of course nothing is registered until I get new codes.

Manually copying apps for UnCache is no big deal, but settings for WarpSpeed and SkinUI can be quite involved. Thanks!

NVBackup should do the job...

NVBackup should do the job...I hoped that, but the new device crashed after the restore. I believe I've read in the app itself or somewhere online that it won't necessarily restore to a new device without fail. I tried restoring with both the Restore and the Selective restore options with similar results. Do you have a specific technique you would care to share? Outside of this scenario NVBackup has been nothing but awesome :D

Have you considered adding prompting before overwrite while displaying conflicting dates on restore? That would be pretty slick. What we really need is a backup tool that will backup a selected application or applications that includes all preferences, etc. - if that's even possible.

Scott, could you have had a bad backup perhaps? I had a series of bad backups on my old e2, it wasn't a software issue, though, it was a hardware issue. My sd card directory structure was somehow comprimised and therefore messing up a lot of my saved data, e.g., my backups.

On the otherhand, most of my backups transferred fine between devices, like my TE2's.

Good luck!

Have you tried copying over the saved and unsaved prefs DBs? I believe these are where most of the settigs you want are saved. For instance, UDMH and SkinUI save their prefs in the Saved Prefs DB. You might want to try an app that can backup and restore individual prefs records if the files themselves are corrupt.

In any case, all of Dmitry's apps will have to be re-registered for your new device.

Will he have to purchase a new license? I was going to buy SkinUI because I love it, and PowerDigi, but I don't want to buy it twice if my device takes a turn for the worse...

if your old device dies or no longer uses my apps, you get a new key for new device for free

Dmitry, I know you're more (understandably) into the cool stuff like coding than documenting, but I think a new entry in your FAQ at palmpowerups.com explaining the process for requesting new keys would be helpful. I lot of us use your apps and too many of us replace our devices.
