Hi, I have just got a new TX for Christmas, in advance I got a 4gb SDC so as to be ready. The 4gb card worked fine for approx 2 days, then after sending some media files to it my TX started rebooting. Once I took the card out the TX was ok. I have a 2gb card in and it is ok now. However I tried to format the 4gb and it is now coming up as not been recognised.
Anyone out there any thoughts on what went wrong and if I can recover my 4gb.

Regards,
Jimbo33 :(

Jimbo,

Sounds like the 'sending' of files caused the prob b/c they were either corrupt, or became corrupted in 'transit' (or a bad sector on the card could also be the culprit).

Try going into the prefs app, then remove the card, & then do a soft reset. See if after it reboots into the Palm version of 'safe mode', & you re-insert the card, the native Palm app on TX called Card Info will allow you to format the card.

If not, try either an external usb card reader, or better if you have a multimedia panel of slots directly on your computer, to use windoze to format the card... (I have found a difference between a usb connected reader & one built into pc when I had a similar prob)

If not, try to format the card in a digital camera.....

If not, grab the receipt & contact either the store where you got it, or Transcend, cause if it won't reformat under all of those conditions, it is likely a bad card.
(p.s. I have the exact same card & it is working just fine for me...)

Let everyone know what your results are...

good luck,

cms

Mine (same card) has been going a little wacko on me in the past weeks. Im planing on returning min for repairs if it becomes unuseable.

Be sure to register your card on their website. That wayyou can reap the benifits of having their lifetime warrenty

Thanks Guys for the advice, I will try the card in my desktop and register the 4gb with Transcend. Once I have any update I will respond.

Just in case this is a new TX... I purchased a couple when Palm had the $199 sale, and so far 2 of 3 have had great difficulty reading 1 and 2GB cards that my other Palms have no problem with. I think they must have had a run of bad components. I'm returning another one today :(

I also bought one of the $199 Palm Tx and it reads and writes to a 2 GByte Sandisk Extreme III without any problems. It's the same performance as the same SD card on one of the original Tx bought on the 1st day available over 2 years ago.

I tried one of the Transcend 4 Gig cards in the older Tx and its performance was terrible. I sent it back.
