View Full Version : Palm is advertising on ClieSource ???

A few minutes ago there were large Palm advertisements on the ClieSource forum message boards.

They were on the right side of the screen.

Now they're gone !

Did anyone else notice them ? :confused:

I also was reading a message, and there was a Zire 71 advertisement on the right.

It's very strange to see Palm PDA advertisements in a Sony Clie forum ?

But I guess the money to pay for this website has to come from somewhere !

(I saw an add for a tungsten on my way in) Palm advertising on cliesource is as close to sacreligious as it would be for Apple to advertise on Microsofts webpage (asterisk temporarily goes insane and whacks his head against the computer screen until he sees stars, considers flinging his SJ-20 at the wall, but realizes it might have adverse effects, shakes his head and silently fumes after he regains his sanity):mad:

I've noticed them. But I don't really see the big deal. Everyone wins, ClieSource gets much needed revenue and Palm might get some people to buy their products. At least there not PPC ads :D

Agreed... the ads don't sway me much, the specifications do. :) I'm still undecided as to whether my next Palm OS device will be a Palm or a Clie, but when I *do* decide, it'll be based on specs, not ads on a competitors website. :)

On another track, yay for Cliesource for gaining that revenue from Palm.

Perhaps Palm is having a bad feeling that new (better) Clies are coming! Palm ads can be seen everywhere! :D

I really don't mind the ads as long as they're related to PDAs. If it pays the bills for cliesource, then all the better.

Palm pays big bucks to place ads here. I don't think much of the ads 'cause I know what I want.

2. Good on ClieSource - getting revenue from their semi-competitor
3. It pays bills
4. I am still going to get a clam-shell PDA w/VG no matter how many PalmSG ads i see.
5. I like Clies, not Palms. Some people like specs, i do too. Which PalmSG device has VG?

At least the OS is the same on a Palm brand as on a Clie. I see PC computer (Windows) ads in MacWorld magazine.

I played around with the Tungsten C this weekend. It was gorgeous, and the keyboard was great. But no stereo? No voice recorder (that I could see)? What WERE they thinking? And that plasticky case feel...I'm not sure it would survive my being its owner. For what they are charging, bah! Sony can and will do better, I'm sure (except perhaps in the matter of keyboards, for which they really need to go back to the drawing board, IMO). Meanwhile, I wait and wait and save and save. So let Palm advertise anywhere they please.

I don't understand what the big deal is. It's Palm. If you freak out that much, it means you're insecure and trying to justify your Clie purchase. Chill out. Palm's been advertising EVERYWHERE. Even the dead PDABuzz has new Palm ads.

Yeah, I am still waiting to see what Sony's new offering will be. If it is lame, then I am going to buy the Tungsten T or Tungsten C. If it is descent, then I will buy the Sony. I want to stay with Sony, but their waiting and the possibility that the new Sony PDA will be another TG is really making me very weary. I hope the spec's are with a Virtual Graffiiti and the RAM. I guess we will see soon.

One may note that Palm also sells software. You know, software that will run on a Clie? Also, growing the overall PDA market, especially for the Palm OS vs. PPC, can only help all of us.
