Help me to understand..CF ?

Could you guys just tell me what is so big deal about Compact Flash rather than memory stick?
I just got clie NX but its little difficult to follow your discussions.

From what I can see the biggest advantage to being able to use Compact Flash is the cost of this memory. I just got a 1 GIG and a 512mb CF cards for $171 for both! They are now making memory sticks bigger than 128mb but look at the cost!! YIKES. So if you need more storage space (want to carry around lots of MP3s and/or some videos) then Compact Flash is the way to go!

Plus, a lot of people already have a lot of CF cards from other devices, like PPC's or digital cameras.

The other advantage for me is that I now have so much more storage capacity than what a single MS offers (and at a reduced cost). I've moved plenty of applications, large databases, and large text files to my CF. I was bumping up against the 128MB limit on my MS and my internal was full. For the price of a 128 MS (list price) I was able to get a 512 MB CF and now I've got plenty of room. Hey, I even am using a 64MB MS so I've freed another 128 MS for my digital camera for my trip to Hawaii in a week.

Hey Dripps,  where did you pick up a deal like this?  I thought I was doing ok with the $89 deal for Viking 512MB at Amazon...  can you share your source?
