A lot more icons since its introduction!
For those who have made the purchase for M3 Light, grab your update now! As usual, updates are free! :)

For those who haven't seen M3 Light, check out the new expanded preview! You'll be pleased! :D

I didn't know whether to start a separate thread on this so I didn't bother!

I've loaded the M3Light preview for Agendus, I'm using V3BHack.

Looks great BUT I can't see any icons on Agenda view or Week View when I have "High Resolution Display" enabled. They are only visible when I turn off High Resolution Display - it's okay in month icon view. Is this a limitation of trying to use Hires icons with OS4.1 and V3BHack?

I don't want to use Agendus without the Hires turned on because of the extra real estate you get to display all the entries.

Would appreciate anyone's experience on this. Definitely not worth me forking out the $8 if I can't use Hires mode - even though the icons are excellent.

Maybe I'll have to wait for the next OS5 Clie that I'm hoping is around the corner!

It looks like the limitation is in the M3 icons, as my icons from other sources show up while the M3 ones don't when I switched to "HiRes Display Mode" in Agendus. I don't use that mode, because it almost makes using icons not worth it period, IMHO! ;) But to address your question, yes, save your money! :)

I use vb3hack with Agendus as well. I think that I can explain your problem.

I haven't tried the M3 icons in a while, but when I did, I had the same issue, so I imagine this is explaination is still valid. In Agendus, the normal views, which show full-size icons, use an 8-bit hires icon if its available. The small font hires views drop down to a lowres icon (again, if it's available), which usually looks hires because the icon has been reduced so much.

So, the icons in your icon set, on a OS 4.1 Clie with vb3hack enabled, need to include both lowres 8-bit and hires 8-bit versions to work. I think that the M3 hires icon sets were produced without including lowres versions. This explains why you see an icon in some views, but not in the small font view, where there's no lowres icon available for Agendus to point to. Some icon sets that I've tried only include 16-bit icons, and these don't show up at all (and have the potential to cause a fatal error).

You can check all of this by using IconManager, available at PalmGear. It's an outstanding program that lets you edit icon sets and individual icons, and let's you quickly see what versions of each icon are available. You could use it to create lowres icons from the M3 set, but this is both time-consuming and difficult, since there's so much shading in the M3 set. However, there are hires icon sets available that already include both low and hires versions of their icons. The DesignsByBert set is what I use, and it works perfectly. I actually like the DBB icon design better as well.

Hope this helps...

Hi,

Thanks both for the replies. I couldn't find this thread initially because I posted under a different thread and the moderator I assume, rightfully started a new thread which this topic.

The explanations fully clarify it - thanks. To be honest this is one of the reasons that although I keep coming back to look at the hires iconsets I haven't jumped and bought a set because there is limited "improvement" with the views that I use the most in Agendus. Hence I've resisted the temptation til now.

I may wait until I get an OS5 device maybe later this year.

Thanks again.

Paul
