It's up at Handango. I haven't tried it yet, but the interface sure looks "pretty"...

I think they make some nice stuff for the PPC. My brother has a file manager of something of theirs and likes it much.

Thanks:)

Looks very nice, but I won't buy ANOTHER viewer. Maybe AcidImage will make their interface a little prettier in response? :)

WOW! That's VERY nice! I like the lighten/darken slider. That would be VERY handy for people that take a memstick out of their camera to view on their clie.

I might just have to try this one . . . (like I try so many others . . . *sigh*)

I've played with it a bit. It is quite slick. The thumbnails generate quickly, and I like the "explorer" navigation. Too bad it's not HiRes+.

Tixx

No HiRes+. That kinda sucks:(

I agree, an image viewer has to have high-res+ before I'd even consider it at this point. It's hard to imagine something being so much better than AcidImage that I would want to spend $20 on another image viewer.

No "kinda" about it Tixx. ;) Hires+ is a must-have for an imaging app. It looks soo nice too.

Just a quick review. I loaded it and it intially loads the thumbs slowly but it does keep them in a cache, so it seems as long as you don't change the name of the image it will store it in cache. If you close out the app and then launch again the thumbs are loaded up instantly. Only problem is the cache remains in RAM. I suppose PR could fix this but I don't use it. The editing is pretty straightforward and very functional. It also gives you a "tree" on the left of your RAM and Cardin order to navigate to certain directories. The width of this tree is adjustable so as to let you view more thumbs at a time(2-3 columns).

hherbzilla

Actually, I found it loaded the thumbnails quicker than AcidImage.

Yes I did too after testing it some more. I think I like this better than any other viewer. I might actually buy this one after trying out the others( splash and AI )!!

The program works in hires+ if you force it with hrfontmapper.

It is supposed to display SplashPhoto pictures. I could get it to tell me that there were 54 files in the SplashPhoto directory on the MS, but it wouldn't display any of them. ???? Delete.

Well check this response out......

.....you are right: the editing changes are not (yet) saved. It is one of the
things we shall work on in the close future.
However, I have also a good news: End of this week we shall release support
for Sony HiRes+, including jog-dial control and multiple card interface.

That was from their support dept.

This seems like it could take the lead as best viewer, and maybe editor!!!

Hey guys,

two things...

First, don't know if you noticed, but no one has posted the name of the app yet! :-) I couldn't find anything while searching for RESCO. I luckily found this thread anyway. But now I have, to help others out.

Second, WOW this app rocks. I was really put off by the lack of highrez+ support, but looks like that's gonna be fixed!

There is currently a code at handango to get it for half off!!! Just enter this code: XA713C57

That makes this killer app only $9.98! This really put me over the edge. I removed SplashPhoto from my cart at the last minute, and got Resco instead.

Thanks again guys,

Gracyon

Changes in Resco Photo Viewer V1.10
-----------------------------------

Added formats:
- bmp
- Sony Clie NX70 photo format (can be converted to Jpeg by dragging on a card)

Drag&drop
Tap a thumbnail & move the pen sooner than the popup menu appears.
Watch the cursor indicating which tree object can accept the dragged image.
The tree scrolls as you approach either border. (Move the pen if necessary.)
Drag = copy. (A simple copy when dragging between card directories,
a format conversion in more complicated cases.)
Good place to start: Drag an image to the Favorites folder. (Exception: a link is created.)
What can't be dragged:
- Splash images
- album members (drag the whole album instead)
- bmp to RAM

Sony Jog Dial support:
- Dial is used to move the selection in the explorer or to change the image in the viewer.
- Pressed dial is used in the viewer (zoom control)
- Explorer: back button toggles between the panes

Format conversions:
- When dragging Jpeg Card <-> RAM
- When dragging Sony photo -> card
- When receiving Jpeg file to card-less handheld

Other new features:
- Sony HiRes+ support
- Program restarts on the last folder visited
- slide show can be started from any place
- Faster Jpeg loading (up to 50%)
- multicard support

Both interface and image loading speed were impressive, image quality is not as superb as AI though(correct me if I'm wrong), I'm running the trial ver right now.

Is it just my Clie model or why are all the images poor quality? I'm using a T615 with just over 2mb free, and the thumbnails are not hires and the pics look grainy, about the quality of Pics to Go. I'm viewing .jpg files that I already had on my card, but even the default album that got installed is grainy, looks like lowres I was going to buy this, but now I'm not sure.

I'm using a T675C and i'm also not able to see highres icons/images...
In fact the whole program works in 160x160.
I have to activate highres assist to see the text's in the tree in highres ?!?

Any ideas ?

I see it needs more work. It puts the thumbs cache in RAM. You click on the contrast button and it moves it to number 10, does NOT read all file formats like those from Pocket Gear. I'll stick with AI and Splash :). It does have some nice features though, but I am still not interested.

I have a T665C and I had the same reaction to the picture quality on the PalmViewer software, just going through the 320x320s I already had on my machine. I've been kind of surprised to read all the raves, given what I saw in image quality.

And I don't need a desktop component to convert or size pics; I just use Photoshop . . .so I bought AcidImage. I was using Yishow as a pic viewer for quite a while and it did all I needed (maps, zooms and slideshows), but I started getting too many crashes . . . I got the feeling Zlauncher didn't want YiShow in its playground any more <g>.

Storing the thumbnails in RAM is a serious issue, but how should this be handled with multi VFS support? Store the thumbnail for each picture on the same card the picture is stored on? Makes sense to me.

It looks like this app is displaying fine on OS5 units, but showing up grainy on OS4. That's a shame... That we are seeing apps that segment the two OS's, but I guess it is expected.

I mailed them my problems with resolution on my T675C and got the following answer:

the problem is on our side. We simply used Silk screen API applicable to all Sony devices using Palm OS 5.0 and higher. To my surprise I noted that OS 4.1 is not dead and new devices are emerging. (Not only at Sony.) OK, we have to accept this and implement also OS 4.1 support (HR API). This can be done in some 2-3 weeks. (Will be one of the points for next upgrade.)

It seems, as if i'll be buying a new image viewer in 2-3 weeks :D

2mb is too rich for my blood, even tho I just moved up to 15mb on the nr70v from an 8mb Prism.
I always loved Album To Go, which has maybe the best slide show options I've yet seen. (Haven't checked it for Hi-res+ now that I have that, but I'll check on it soon. Not sure it does jpeg.)

A KILLER photo viewer / maker / video app too I just came across is Full Screen.
It lets you view pics (incl. jpegs on MS, and tons of other options) and even lets you SHOOT stills & video w/the full screen as a viewer.
It has other amazing options like motion detection, night vision, etc.
And this astonishing app is only ...
50kb!!!

Fullscreen was developed for the NR70V handheld. It adds a lot of function to the camera such as a "night vision" mode, and it can be setup to record pictures or movies when it detects motion. The motion detection mode looks very cool, because it outlines everything that moves in red. This was also the first app (I believe) that let you record a movie with the camera in the NR. FullScreen also serves as an image viewer, letting you view images using the whole screen (hires+).

The homepage for Fullscreen is at the following URL:

http://www.swooze.com/swfullscreen.html

It is available, but it will only work on the NR series units. Sony isn't releasing the camera APIs that would be required to get an app like this to work with the NX or NZ series handhelds.

The last update from the developer was made in Janurary, and states that his job is pulling him away from development. So it looks like this project may stay dormant for awhile. Especially with the new NX and NZ series handhelds support movie recording out of the box.

As far as this photo viewer that the thread is talking about... it is gone from my unit for now. 2megs was too big of a hit for me. Plus, it could only save about a screen full of thumbnails at a time, so if I scrolled it would have to reload thumbnails. If they can get the thumbnails to save to the MS or CF, I will check it out again.

I've been looking for a photo viewer to my liking and this is it. I just spent the $20 and purchased it.

It works on NX70 in spite of not being listed on their web site. It also handles Memory Sticks AND CF cards at the same time! Full screen, larger thumbs than Acid Image, drag and drop. I like it!

I can't wait for them to allow saves after edits.

The handango promo code someone posted doesn't work anymore. Too bad, at $10 I was going to get it, but I didn't want to purchase it before it had support for OS4.1 Hires. It looks really good, but I can't afford $20 US (probably around $27 Canadian)

To zoom by rectangle, just tap and hold on the picture, select "Zoom to rectangle" on the popup menu, and drag a rectangle around the area you wish to zoom.

Yes, actually RESCO is a big name in the PPC world. Their RESCO File Explorer is so popular as DateBK in the Palm world. They also have other useful utilities such as RESCO Zipper, Audio recorder, and other stuffs, too.

I'm surprised that they are trying to enter the Palm platform right now, as this will leads us to have more decent applications.
