View Full Version : Another UX50 with wifi problems

I just bought a UX50 off of eBay. I always wanted one since I played with one a couple of times in a local shop after they came out, but they were waaay to expensive back then. I already have a Tx as my main device, so I bought this mainly to use around the house, writing up ideas, reading an ebook, checking mail and stuff.

It came cheap because it said is was broken but only the weak battery was mentioned. I thought that would be easy enough to replace, and it was.
Then I found out the wifi doesn't work. I thought I would be able to fix it easily with the 'tape solution', unfortunately not... I tried pressing the wifi chip in every possible way but nothing helps.

When I press scan, the green wifi light blinks twice, then I get the message: 'interface not found(0x121C)'. I guess this means the wifi chip is really gone?

Is this easy to fix, or does this mean motherboard replacement for $180?
Are there any MS wifi cards out there that work with a UX50?

So no email checking or web surfing now. Ah well, I really like the rest of the device so I'll at least keep playing with it for a bit :D

This is a common problem with the UX50, but there is a simple fix. See this post on http://www.1src.com/forums/showthread.php?t=77127&highlight=wifi+problem

I used this to repair 2 UX50's.
Good Luck.

I found that thread and was so happy I found a solution.
Then I tried it and spent all night pressing the wifi chip and the back of the UX any possible way imaginable but it's just not working....
I guess I have a unit with a more serious problem, I was just hoping someone has found a solution for this as well..
Thanks!
