Yahoo's Z22 forum repeats the message that you should only use a plastic stylus. You will ruin your Zire 22 if you use one and insert a metal stylus into the stylus slot.

In addition The original Zire 21 and the Zire 31 uses plastic stylus. I compared the two styli and they are exactly the same style. Though I haven't read any reports of anyone ruining those models, I would not exactly be smart to try to ruin any Palm Zire model by using a metal stylus and inserting it into the stylus slot.

Unfortunately the plastic stylus has no hidden reset tool so Zire users have to have access to the suggested reset device known as a paper clip.

Hi,

fried my z22 this way :) DON'T use a metal stylus. Bad desigining via alm, Inc yet again.

I'd never use a metal- "tipped" stylus on a screen.

My stylus on my TE-2 is metal and the tip used to be plastic but it broke off.

@#@#%**cheap stylus...
