Alan, nice show as usual. Glad to notice it was down to 'normal' length, leaving some additional sleep for you ;)
Just a remark: SDHC support, though officially unsupported, was already present in 680 from the beginning. This update now brings this to the official level.
Worthwhile to mention, Palm's Knowledgebase article 34080 "Maximum expansion card sizes and types compatible with Palm devices" still lists 2Gb as being the maximum for 680 and does NOT mention SDHC. Same for 700p BTW

As it turns out my sleep was cut short by the kids getting up extra early the following morning. At least they weren't late for school. :D

I know. I was looking up the supported capacity for the Treo 755p and noticed that the 700p wasn't updated to include SDHC support. This was before the Treo 680 update was released. I forwarded the page over to a contact I have that manages the Palm KB. That was about a week ago give or take a few days. That article is in the queue for updating.
At least we're keeping Palm honest.

Most of the "upgrades" only give you the option of paying for a subscription service on the Treo 680 (GPS, MobiTV, PTT). The "improved ringtone support" is a joke. I don't know what they intended it to do, but my ringtone options have not changed at all. Luckily I use Minitones to convert and trim mp3s anyways, so not a huge loss.
The IM client is nice, but since I use Mundu which offers me a consolidated view of all clients it is not all that useful either
The Xpress mail looks very good, and says it will "push" my mail. It does not push mail (at least not to my Treo 680), but it does handle gmail better than Versamail.
Overall, unless this really does improve my battery life as advertised the update does not seem to have done much for me.
