Last December 29, 2002, I bought a Sony Clié NR70V/U. Because the handled requires some hours of charge before use it, I cant test it at the store.
After charge the handled at home I turned it on and I noticed that the hardware keyboard doesn´t respond. I already tried with the reset and the hard reset, but the problem persists.
Do any of you have the same problem?. Any advice?
Thanks.
Did it come with any drivers you need to install?
I have no experience with Clié keyboards, but the Palm M505 certainly needs keyboard drivers.

If you mean the mini-keyboard attached to the NR70V is not working and a hard reset has not fixed it then I think it is unfortunately defective.
I'm somewhat in the same situation having purchased an NR70V on Dec 30th 2002. Mine developed an unusually loud clicking noise when using the jog dial after two weeks of use. If you can exchange it for another unit that is probably the best thing to do. If you cannot find another unit (as I have run into) then you can either send it to Sony, or open it up and hope that it is just a loose cable. I believe there was an old thread where someone mentioned that their keyboard cable came loose. If you have seen the inside picture of the NR70V then you would know that there are several cables inside. Unfortunately opening the unit voids your warranty so you should consider carefully.
Hope that helps.

that happened to me once, but it was months after i bought it. As well it started working again later, maybe its a fluke.

The keyboard will occasionally go dead because of a software bug. However, a soft reset or switching the hold button on then off will fix it everytime. Since even a hard reset wouldn't bring back the keyboard I think it's defective.
I have just noticed that the angle at which the NR is open decides if the keyboard is functioning or not.
Bummer 'cause I wanna use it in tablet mode and just lift the screen a bit to reach the keyboard, it seems I have to open it at an angle of about 30° before the keyboard activates, same with the hard buttons.
I noticed the keyboard not functioning before but never made the link until now.
This thing almost has more sensors than a car, screen rotation sensor, camera rotation sensor, open angle sensor what's next a sensor to check if the stylus is present ... :)

Yup, that is correct about openning the clamshell.
There are a lot of sensors! :) Makes you wonder how they get so much technology into one package and sell it for $400-$600.

Try to exchange your Clié or (if you dare), open it, unplug the battery, check the keyboard connector (here http://www.palmare.cz/PalmOS/PalmOS_Hardware/rozebranynr70v021230.html you can see opened Clié - sorry, text is in the Czech language only - keyborad connector is No. 8, battery is No. 9). Maybe it will help. Good luck.
