just bought my clie from exit-head, he didn't send me the CD for one... and i'm having trouble finding a working link to get palm desktop etc. All the ones on the forums broke or are corrupted.
And two, It was reset to factory settings, k, but I can't connect to wi-fi at ALL. I used the starter's guide to attempt to follow their directions, but it gets stuck on getting the hotspot's address and totally freezes. I went to Sony's website and there is a update where they give you some program to connect, i dunno if this is supposed to help... but again, exit-head never mentioned this either.
And I was trying to put netfront 3.1 on their (by Jamerican) and I found some clie driver on the internet that allows me to transfer files, but not hotsync of course, using the data transfer thing in the clie. Contrary to Jamerican's guide on how to do this, i didn't have to install anything on the clie. And when i tried to install the scsi librarys on the clie, it said they were "read-only" and could not be transferred. I could load up appshelf and Jamerican's music player, works great, but when i tried to transfer Netfront 3.1, the clie said that the Pda's memory was full! it was totally fresh factory settings!
how do i get THAT to work!?
Thanks so much for reading, and thanks SO MUCH for helping me in advance.

Did you try with just one hotspot? Maybe the hotspot is somehow secured?
It should work straight out, nothing to install.
as for NetFront 3.1 , I know there is a special trick, you need to install some file manager (not Filez), but I can't remember what it is... maybe someone else can come to rescue ???
and as for Palm Desktop, why not using one from Palm, easily downloadable from their website?
best luck!

tried to get palm desktop from palm, but I suspect that i need some other kind of driver, kuz it wouldnt work at ALL.
i was able to connect fine in another place...
but the one I'm still having trouble with is my own... TrendNet access point.. worked on a linksys in another location... i'll try redetecting the settings.. >_>
yes, i would appreciate knowing how to use the new netfront.

Silly me... yes you need this driver (http://membre.oricom.ca/glaganiere/ux40-50.zip) (unzip and use what's in folder hotsync when prompted on your first hotsync)
Have you checked if your access point is configured to accept only certain mac addresses?
still can't remember how I managed to install NetFront 3.1 ... bummer ! :(

Glad to know you can finally hotsync!
As for your wifi router, are you the one who set it up originally? Do you remember how to access your configuration page, it is typically an ip address you enter in your internet browser something that goes like 192.168.0.1.
When (and if) you access the router's setup page, you can look for key words like security, access, etc. to see if there's a section about MAC address. If also may have to do with security settings (the 'wep' stuff).
Best luck!
Cheers !

With regards to NetFront 3.1, neither Clie Files or FileZ seem to work when transferring the PRC file into RAM. The only way I have managed to do it is using the file manager built into ZLauncher.

i got a 14-day trial of "resco explorer"
it did the job!
I got into my access point and there is nothing set up like that... i tried turning off super g and setting it to a channel other than 6, no gold.
i appreciate the help, and if anyone else has input, go for it!

I know that you might need to set the access point so that it accepts 11MBps connections (as that is the best the UX can achieve). You don't have WPA or 256-BIT WEP or the like set up for data encryption on the access point do you?

Can a UX access anything beyond 802.11B? If not, make sure your router is set to B/G.

No, the UX is purely 802.11b - I don't think wireless G had been proposed let alone ratified at the time of the UX's release!
