I have downloaded the new desktop 6.2. I have a clie nx80v and it does sync just fine. Word is that the install doesn't work, but I can't attest to that because I have only used MyInstall with it. That app works marvelously.

The last time I check, the 6.2 Palm Desktop beta does not support any of the older devices that do not have the Palm enhanced PIM applications (Calendar, Contacts, Tasks, and Memos). Why would that be? My assumption would be that Palm has not bothered to implement the conduits for the older PIM applications. Therefore, I would think you will find that though the device does successfully Hotsync, that the PIM data is not being synced with the desktop. Note: Depending on the specifics, the PIM data might be being backed up to the Backup directory.

However: If one additionally uses some third party PIM conduits (e.g. Pocket Mirror), this may not be a problem.

I'm sure that v4.1.4 is Vista compatible.

Well maybe its just me or I did something odd, but I just now double checked my nx80v. I added some new info to datebook on my desktop, then synced with my clie. The new information showed up on the clie. So doesn't this show that the pim data is being synced? All of my contacts and memos are there too.

Yes that would. Therefore either:
The situation has changed, and the legacy devices are now supported (though possibly not officially).
Something is odd about your setup.
My recollection and/or understanding of what the situation was is completely faulty.
