Avantgo 5 beta not working?

I was synching last night, and Avantgo would not connect to the server. It was working otherwise fine until a few days ago. Tried it earlier tonight, no luck... does anyone know if AG servers are down or anything??

I don't know if this helps, have been having porblems for a week or so and thought it was related to an ISP problem i have been having. I'd been killing off avantgo during the sync because it looked like it was hanging.

We went through and reset all my connection parameters today and same thing happened. Looked like it was hanging. Then did one final synch, went and made a cup of coffee. Must have connected a minute or so at least after it started to "connect to server...". Avantgo server problem? Have had same release on for about a month and this problem is a newish one.

I have both the app and data on a ms, slowish to load but useable.

I have been trying for the last few days, and it just hangs at the connection screen. I tried the PC side of it, and it connected fine... I will try their web site to check if I have any luck... I have mine also on the MS, and works just as you said... I just need to move the app itself to MS, but I have read many warnings about NOT doing it with Powerrun... ideas??

Do you have the latest beta installed? If you do, then try re-installing it, if you don't, completely remove the old version first, before installing the new version. Power is NOT needed, but first you need to get AvantGo running. Check back after you get it working if you need help to move it to the MS.

n2ifp, I hade the latest release, but for the sake of it reinstalled the software, and took VERY long to finally download my channels. I would like to know now how to move my 1.5 MB AvantGo file to the MS, not using Powerrun of course...

Try Options/Server Preferences/Settings and check the "USE CARD" box. The data should go to the card. It's a lot slower though.

I haven't had any problems yet with Avantgo with my NX60.. I haven't used it alot.. but what little I have has went smoothly..

I am running via a wifi connection and speed is OK as well

First make sure your MS has a volume name, if not you can give it one under Card Info on your Clie. Mine was very original, I called it "Card" :).

The AG Connect app has to stay in RAM, one of the options in the pull down menu allows you to check it off for use on the card (MS).

Move the main (800K) app to the /Palm/Launcher folder. AvantGo should create it's own folders on the MS for storing your downloaded links.

You may find a duplicate in RAM for the downloads as one large file (as big as 2MB). Compare it to the files in the AvantGo folder on the MS, then delete the duplicates found in RAM after you do one or two HotSync's. There will some small db's left in RAM, that's okay, leave them there.

It you have WiFi, it works with it also, but it is slow, but sure :).

Ok, here I go again n2ifp... I have the AG connect USe card option selected... I guess that you want me to NOT use the card in that option, right?

As for the main AvantGo app, I see in FileZ that it is type "appl", and its size is 930k... is this the main app file that I should move to the /Palm/Launcher folder??

And as for the downloads, are theses the AGxxx files I see, as in AGHistory, AGDocsNQ, etc?

Use card should be selected.

Avantgo does not support the app on the card at this time (meaning if you have problems doing that, don't ask them). Having said that, it works fine for me in the Palm/Launcher folder... ;) You can move it with any file manager (or launcher)

The 'small' files (AGxxx) will stay in your main ram. All that's moved is the one BIG file with all the pages you look at. I'm not sure what the small files are, but they do get updated every hotsync . . .

Mine syncs fine, but for the past two weeks, the main avantgo logo and line divider images are not coming through. the graphics for the specific channels works fine. odd bug.

I was having memory errors when I tried to do a Modem Sync in AvantGo so I reinstalled the software. Problem I am now is that if I try to go into Server Preferences in AvantGo I get an error:

Fatal Alert
MemoryMgr.c,Line: 3583, Free Handle

RESET

I also get this if I try to a Modem Sync in AvantGo - what could be the problem? Has anyone else had this error?

AGConnect has Use card Set
AvantGo moved to Launcher folder

Is it jsut me or is the once wonderful and easy to use Avantgo becoming high maintenence? with Isolo and Handstory I am ready to hang up avantgo, even though I paid for the extended memory it just seems like every time I turn around I am trying to get it to work. I still think it is superior to other clippers in it's ability to sync daily but that is if it works? Francis

When i sync with avantgo everything is fine the
only problem i have are the images!

They are not Hires pictures anymore, eventhough my settings are
correct i get the huge pictures.

does anyone else have this problem

Wierd thing is that only the channels are at lowres while the AvantGo homepage is highres

I found it just as quick to use a straight browser.

It had a proxy server, but I don't remember if you can add a login and password.

I'm having multiple problems. The images on the main page don't come through anymore, and some of my channels, like Yahoo and CNN, just won't sync now. I'm not sure what happened, but there must have been some kind of change on their side in the last week or so.

I am having similar problmem now but not always. I see that the images on my Homepage no longer appear - just the text to say that there is a gif file. Sometimes its all OK - may be a bug in the beta version but seen nothing about it on the site

Get this after my last e-mail I went and deleted all my avantgo files on my pc but did not get around to deleting the apps. on my handheld and this morn. when I hotsynced, it synced really quickly no problems. it is the first time it has worked in weeks? is it syncing through the sync option in avantgo? whatever it works. Francis

francis - I am using AG Connect to Sync as cannot get the Sync option to work in Avantgo. Glad that you have got it working

I haven't been able to sync my avantgo for a month. i checked and i have all the servers and ports correct. i can't understand what happened. i run it off PowerRun. can anyone helP?

The Avantgo OS5 beta version doesn't need PowerRun to use it from the MS. Use the card option in AG Connect. Then again are you trying to use it on an OS4 device?

The app is still in beta, did anyone refer their issues to AG Support?

I have referred the issue of the Fatal Reset error when you try to sync server via AvantGo but as yet no response. In the meantime I use AgConnect to Sync server via wifi connection. Not sure how quickly I will get a response - has not been an update to the latest Beta version for sometime
