View Full Version : NX70v Dead Pixel. Acceptable? How many have them?

I bought an NX70v almost three weeks ago, and I LOVE it! It continues to exceed my expectations, which were pretty high.

Anyway, it seemed to be flawless; worked with a 256 MS Pro, and I've been a happy camper. Then I had to go and dowload "LCD Analyzer", and it indicated one dead pixel on my screen. It's only visible on a black backgound, when it shows up red; on other colors I can't see it at all. I probably would have never seen it if not for that application, and luckily it's far towards the edge of the display, not near the middle.

I know that LCD's commonly have a dead pixel somewhere, and that manufacturers consider 4 or even 6 to be "within limits" in their specs (they never say this outright, but if you have one they'll fess up).

So here's my question: Sould I return this to J&R and exchange it for a new one?

How many people here have dead pixels, and are they common in an NX70v? Should I expect perfection in this new unit, or should I consider myself lucky that it's not at all glaring?

Please share your dead pixel stories here! Also, I'd really appreciate any advice that people have for me.

Thanks.

If it wont cost you anything, get a new one.(scratches you might of made are gone, brand new)

If you didn't even notice it until you ran the analyzer, why bother returning it?

As far as I can tell, I don't have any dead pixels. I haven't run the analyzer and probably won't bother.

My NX doesn't have any dead pixels, but my desktop LCD monitor does have one almost dead center of the screen. That can be kind of annoying sometimes, but generally I don't notice it.

I'd say if you don't even notice the dead pixel is there, I would just leave it as is. The LCDs on those handhelds are pretty advanced and I wouldn't be suprised to see a number of the screens have at least one dead pixel. So, no point of risking getting a device with a more noticable defect.

One dead pixel is one too many for me. Fortunately there is 6 Clies in this household and none of them have dead pixels.
2 N760C, 2 NR70, and 2 NX70's.

If you can exchange it, I would. It's a lot of money and dead pixels detract from the value. You wouldn't want to buy a new car with rust spots, would you?

My first NX had a dead pixel... took it back to BB and they gladly exchanged it. The question you need to ask.... is this going to nag at you for time to come?

Cheers, Rich

Better change it before you can't. No dead pixels is allow in my house. - 1 LCD monitor, 4 clies, 2 digicams and 2 Handphones - all without dead pixels.

Mine has no dead pixel. I would try to give it back just to check their customer service and attitude.

Yeah if it aint gonna cost ya anything exchange it - it obviously bothered you enough to ask everyone else what they thought.

I've tried LCD Analyzer too. No dead pixels on my four-month-old NX :D
If I were you, though, I would try to have yours exchanged, especially, since it's so new. Otherwise you'll think about that dead pixel every time, and that's - how do you americans say it? - bad vibes :D

There are a certain amount of dead pixels that are considered 'acceptable' to the manufacturer. However, I'd raise holy heck and get a new one! Well, I'd get a new one....... I mean, you pay $600 and it has a defect? Not me. They'll probably be glad to switch yours out anyway!

None dead on mine either!
