Guys,

I have a good 10 pounds to shed before the Holidays, and I wish I had some calorie counter to help me out. Is there a good freeware dieting app out there?

Thanks in advance!

WWCalc is the best, it is based on the Weight Watchers point system, but WW lawyers scan the net and take down all WW points calcs they find. The author has a Yahoo group, and when you join it he sends you the app. It works with List databases of food values posted on the net Like at Doti's (http://akasha.freeshell.org/ww/pilot/wwfc.html), about 500 restaurants menus items plus the USDA food facts for generic foods.

A couple of weeks ago Handango was giving away the $30 Atkins Carb Counter, I grabbed it but have not tried it yet.

Another vote for WWCalc here! I also use the food lists that Josser mentions from Doti's. It simple, easy to use, the food and restaurant lists are extensive.

If you're dead set on using calorie counts to manage your weight loss then you could still use WWCalc and know that 1 WW point = 50 calories. So for a 1800 calorie a day diet that would be 36 WW points. :)
