Does anyone know of a way to get Pocket TV Browser to support VFS? I'd like to run the database from the MS. Without PowerRun if possible.

I have been using PowerRun with some success. I have the new database hotsynced into RAM and when I run TV Browser it will copy the new database onto the card and frees up the RAM again.

I use MSMount for the listings DB. It requires moving the newDB to the MSMount directory each time you download a new one (I just use ZLauncher file manager to select the DB and move it to the MSMount directory on MS, it asks if I want to overwrite the existing DB, I say yes and that's it), but the app responds much more quickly than with PowerRun. I also have and use PowerRun for other apps, but for read only DBs, I've found MSMount to be significantly faster. MSMount is freeware and works without conflict on the same device as PowerRun. I have PocketTV Browser (the app) on MS in the launcher directory, with ZLauncher and the Listing DB on MS in my MSMount directory. The listings load very nearly as fast as if they were in RAM.

One tip when using MSMount, be sure to include the file manager you use in MSMounts list of apps that it automatically disables for. I have ZLauncher in that list. If you have PiDirect, it should work the same way.

Jim This is what I do with my NX. It is possible, but your 'best' method will depend on which Clie you have.

I like the MSmount idea, but I don't think its OS5 compatible. I've tried PowerRUN and it seems to work pretty well. Thanks for all your help guys!!

I believe you are correct, that MSMount isn't OS5 compatible. As far as I know, PowerRun is your only OS5 option for running Pocket TV Browser and it's DB from MS.

My device is a NR with OS4

What url do you use for your listings? How many days can you download at a time?

Direct TV's listing at http://www.directv.com/DTVAPP/ProgramGuide

I'm sure there are others.

I would guess that you could download as many as you wanted or had room for. You may want to set iSilo not to follow any off site links though.

I think I'll give iSilo a try too. Pocket TV uses tvguide.com and that only lists the analog channels for my cable company (1-83). I want a listing for all 400++ channels....any ideas? btw, I've got Time Warner Cable in the Pasadena area.

I did the same thing with a great deal of success on my nx until started using the app "TV Grid Listings".

When poweru puts the data from Pocket Browser back onto the card, "TV Grid Listings" can read Pocket Browsers files which is understandable since the is associated with Pocket browser and not the tv grid app.

Has anyone found a work around to be able to have the tv grid app use the pocket browser files and then have powerrun return the database to the card with that same app. I wonder if there's a way to associate the data base with the grid app. If so, I wouldn't even have to open tv browser, unless I was doing a search (at least the way I use it).

Where is that list? I don't see it anywhere on the MSMount screen...

With MSMount disabled, tap the settings button for the Non-compatable App screen. Tap Add and select the app you want MSMount to disable for when it runs. I recommend including file managers, MSImport, perhaps your backup program. I also include Hotsync and PowerRun. For hotsync, also check the box to "disable during hotsync".
