View Full Version : Okay, I'm curious. How did you find ClieSource?

I visited a different board daily . . . ahem (won't mention WHOM ~ but I still want to know where Wes is! ;)) . . . when CS was started up, and we heard about it there. It's sure come a LONG way, Baby!! Of course, at the time, I had a 'lowly Prism' instead of a Clie . . .

Reggie and I were both members of the Yahoo Clie Users Group. A lot of people were complaining about the limitations of Yahoo Groups with regard to lack of threads and limits on file storage, and a lot of people suggested we needed an alternative. Reggie created this web site and invited everyone over, and I joined on the first day. As you might imagine, it was VERY slow back then. For example, the Most Recent Threads list on the main page would have posts going all the way back to the day before!! Hard to imagine now!!

I beat a hasty retreat in reaction to Wes leaving PDABuzz and was homeless for a while till I found you and rldunn here at CS.
I tried some other forums, but found they seemed to populated with very young kids looking for flamewars. No fun for me. We have some issues here with "judgement calls from the sidelines" but all in all, I feel this is a top site to park my Clie!

Right after I got my SJ30, I googled Clie. I was really impressed with the amount of stuff and that it focuses on clies - not palms or PDAs. Became a member and daily (at least) visitor:D

Reggie and I are related so I didn't need to find ClieSource from the start ;) ... speaking of start, I'll be posting something in the main page that'll make the more seasoned CS members smile :)

I'm sure fireball will cover this but if you all want to read about how ClieSource started, you can browse through the ClieSource Yahoo Group. Start from message 1. :D

Talk about bringing back memories! :)

Like others have already said, I also googled clie.  It was the day after I brought home my SJ-30.

I had bought my N710 back in June of 2001. I started googling to see if I could get info on the OS4.1 update in the end of 2001, but ended up going first to PalmBlvd. It was in the posts there that I first heard about ClieSource, and once I saw the quality of the info available I switched almost immediately.

Yeah I had been borrowing a friend's S320 and I had pre-ordered an NR70v, I was searching for clie specific programs, and found cliesource...I've been addicted ever since

I saw a random reference to it on PalmInfoCenter.com around the time that the NX series was pre-announced. Turned out to be the most excellent Clie resource out there! As a very long-time Palm OS proponent, this was just the next obvious place to hang out! ;)

I purchased a Pilot 1000 the week it was released, upgraded it, purchased a Palm III, purchased a Palm Vx, and now I have an NX70V.

I also got here from either Palm Blvd or even Brighthand (I had a Palm IIIc at the time).

Great site that I visit daily. It was a real help when shopping for my 33, and switching over from the Palm.

I think I read about it on one of the Yahoo groups when I first got my NR70V. As a long time Palm OS user (purchased original Pilot 5000 back in 1996), I was looking for a Clie-specific site. This site has really grown in the year I have been a member. Good work, everybody:D

I mostly hung out on USENET when I had my Visor. When I got my Clie, I saw a post, by PaulNB, mentioning CS so I dropped by.

My first post was a question (which I forget now) as Unregistered. Then Aces suggested I register and here I am.

Actually I had found pdabuzz a long while back and others there began to mention cliesource... I used both for a long time before cliesours became my only choice... I do not go to any other boards... but I do check in with palmgear daily...

I was on PalmBlvd for a long time, then I saw ClieSource mentioned there. I checked it out, and it looked awesome, but at the time I didn't have a Clie. When I got my NR, I remembered this site, and really found out how great it is!

I heard about Clie Source when it was first starting, I think there was a post on Palm Infocenter about it. I came over and signed up and have been visiting ever since. I don't post very often, unless I really feel like I am contributing something towards the greater good of the Clie community, or if it's fun like this.

I signed up on 12-13-2001 and was registered user number 49... I've never really thought about how Clie Source has changed over the years, in my eyes it's just got better and better.

I was a Visor user and EAGER for a NEW upgrade... BUT I did a LOT of research since I was happy with my Visor... AND wanted a worthwhile purchase...

NR70v or NX70v, refurbished NR70 from overstock or...

I googled, yahoo'ed and kept coming back to cliesource... so I decided to STAY.

AND I don't regret the decision... a HAPPY well informed owner of an NX70.

BTW, the CF DRIVER CONTEST *caught* my eye & kept me hopeful... so far so GOOD!!!

To make a short story long. I was a a Visor Dx user and frequent VisorCentral visitor and then decided to upgrade. My inclination was towards the Visor Prism and VC had a great deal of info on it. Then I heard about the T615 and figured there must be something similar to VC but for Clies. I googled and found CS and never looked back

I too was a Handspring devotee. They once had a nice article about the 'new' Clies and a link to CS. I guess you could say that they steered me in the right direction since development for the springboard (my favorite thing about the Visor) disappeared shortly thereafter.

When I dropped my Visor and the screen cracked, I started looking for a new thing, and the coolest thing at the time was the NX70v that was going to come out in like 4 months. So I just kind of puttered around the internet looking for information and advice until I found this place, which was the best fit for any kind of clie user or potential clie user.

This may sound funny but I was searching for VG skins on Google and I found this place. I kept coming back to the skins page, and I figured I'd click on the Home link and check this place out. So I registered, and now I'm here every day. There is no better clie site.

Well, I used to be a regular at that "other" big board before it tanked, I spent some time @ NXT's group and ClieUsersGroup too, but like you guys, got tired of the limitations. I wandered cyberspace aimlessly, visiting many boards but found none that really appealed to me. I saw a couple of references to CS in those other boards and figured I ought to check it out. The site became especially valuable once I got my NR!

Man, it was too long ago and I can't remember exactly. It's either from an "advertising" thread in VisorCentral or NXT's club. Lurked around for a couple of days and didn't see the need to join (there was nothing here!). And I just decided to give it a shot one day (member #140) and here I stayed.

I found out about Cliesource on a Sony Campaign (Clie World or Tour I dont remeber). Reading posts of experiences with clies from everywhere I found a post from onr of the founder brothers, click on the link to find out and after that I visit cliesource everyday! when I read the post I didn't even had a Clie! 6 months later I bought my T665C.

I was an avid Palm Vx user and checked out PalmSource quite often. That's where I saw an artical about the new start-up group called ClieSource. Shortly after I saw the news I happened to buy a NX70... ClieSource turned out to be a great place to share gripes, ideas and over-all experiences! Good job guys!

I was a regular user over at VisorCentral, and they had a little section at the bottom of the page that said "Links". I must of clicked on every link, then I found ClieSource around the year 2001...but I finally registered when I got my NR70...

I had a Prism then, then after that broke, I got an NR70. :D

Oh wait, I'm too old for that. If I was born here it would be called Abacus Source. :(

I found ClieSource by a Google search. I found it very useful so I registered immediately, however my registration has never been confirmed so whilst I can reply to threads I can't post new ones which I find rather annoying. Does anyone know how I can improve on my CS experience by being admitted into this 'exclusive' club:confused:

It's been a year and a half, but I think that I followed a link from another site. Could have been from PIC, Brighthand, or daBuzz. This was already my second home before Wes got the boot. I was immediately impressed with the level of dialog here and eveyone's helpfulness. The rest, as they say, is history...

I found it thanks to links on Palmspirit (http://www.palmspirit.com), which is one of the sites I hang around most of the time. At that time I didn't have a Clie yet (just a m505 ;)) and I took an occasional peak. Since I have my NX70V, I visit ClieSource more often :D it's really a great site. Congratulations ;)

I'm happy to see me mentioned in some of the replies :)

Man.. I remember the day that I spent $300+ on the Clie S300, then looking all over the place for a forum to talk about it.. then found the PalmBLVD forums.. went crazy over there, told people all about PowerRun when it first came out too. That was fun.

Then when the 760 came out... wow, that's a whole 'nother story there.

Well, back when my primary PDA was a Palm brand (prior to 9/02) I frequented BrightHand's Forum, and there was a link there to a CS thread discussing the Launcher X beta that had finally been released to a select few who were talking about it. So I came for the Launcher X discussion, but stayed because of all ClieSource has to offer, plus I bought a T665.

...I forget EXACTLY how I found this site, but it was very shortly after I bought my first Clie. The documentation with the Clie left me floating in the middle of a sea of of confusion. I believe I found this through PDABUZZ for the handheld via AvantGo... I'm glad I did. Like someone mentioned, this is not a FlameWar site. It seems to be frequented by normal, mature people who (actually) have a purpose in life... Yea, I Love this site... Thanx to ALL who make it happen. And please, bear with me if I ask some dumb questions. I've taken the advice and SEARCHED the entire website before asking some of these questions. I have asked (what appears to be) dumb questions, but I am COMPLETELY GUILTY of searching for hours (to no avail) before I ask.....

Again, Thank You Very Much ClieSource....
I Am Grateful For Your Time And Dedication....
Thanx To All Who Make It Happen....
