Where are the high quality applications that have a Sony type style to them?

Just look at the video player. It's interface has a solid industrial feel to it.

All the rest of the PalmOS apps, but Sony's, still have that cute and cuddly feel to them. Hate it!

So, are there any apps that have this same look and feel to them that I am missing?

THANKS!

It's the standard Sony "Movie Player" app found on the NX (and probably, NZ) series Clies. It lets you play movies recorded with the NX70's camera as well as movies converted with Sony's Image Converter program. Very nice!

Well, I guess that confirms my suspicion. Sony is the only developer that has style. Kind of scary.

AcidImage definitely has it's own style. But most developers are going to follow the rules that Palmsource lays out as far as UI.

Palm can't even follow their own rules. What happened with Pocket Reader?

Yes, Palm's "own" Palm Reader does not follow their own application design standards.

Here is the document:
Palm Design Standards (http://www.palmos.com/dev/support/docs/ui/UI_Design.html#970239)

Here is an excerpt:

No Button Toolbars

It's common to see a long strip of buttons at the top of a desktop application. These button toolbars are not ideal for the Palm OS platform because the buttons are too small to tell apart (see Figure 1.1). Instead, you must provide buttons only for the essential commands.

Figure 1.1 Applications should not have toolbars

Ok, now here is the Palm Reader app with the worlds smallest toolbar by default:

I am just saying that developers should start moving out of the box and making their apps look more like Sony's Clie apps, that is all. Looks sell, especially when they are simple and functional also.
