MSN Messenger

Has anyone used MSN Messenger service on the NX70V via a wireless connection? What application did you use? Palm MSN?
Any problems that you found?

I've used Palm MSN. It works just fine but is a little awkward to get used to. First, you have to have the Java Engine installed. Second, the program is a little strange to use at first since it doesn't look anything like Messenger for XP or Windows for that matter. However, it does work and you can chat over the WL100 with other MSN users in your buddy list. I have yet to find another chat program that will communicate with MSN. I'm in the process of trying out Verichat and will let you know what I find.

I thought the Java engine was only for Palm OS V3/4 - but if you are on Palm 5 you do not need it?

I tried to make Palm MSN work, but couldn´t; it doesn´t connect, but this is for sure some mistake I did in installing it, since other people use it.
I bought Verichat, and I think it is a great program; the Hi-Res version looks good and it is very similar to the MSN interface. It also connects to Yahoo and AIM. It works both with my dial-up modem and BT.

I was discussing Verichat with the developers and there is apparently a new release coming out in 1 week which will support the Clie NX70V - what version are you running?

Wont the current version of verichat work on the NX70 via WL100 wifi? i thought someone said it did. I think these IM clients are the killer app for always on wifi:)

I think the version supporting this will be v1.76 or whatever release number is given to the 'successor' to v1.75

I also looked at MSN Messenger Force but that does not support the Clie currently - see below for developer comments:

"....Though we have tested the MSN
Messenger Force on the Sony Clie' emulator and it works fine on it, the
application does not work correctly on the actual device. There is some
problem with the way the application making the connection due to which MSN
Messenger Force does not work on the Clie'.

Yes, I believe you have to have the Java engine installed so that you can run MSN messenger on your Clie. Although, I haven't tried it without the engine. I also tried MessengerForce and all I got was a couple of hard resets. I would caution everyone when trying that app out. At least backup to MS and then try it!!

It works fine but does not tell you if any emails (need to check further)
