We at Laridian just released an update to our MyBible software. A few NX70V users are saying they get a blank screen and the device locks up when the run the program. Others have no difficulty at all.
I'm looking for examples of both. If MyBible 3.0 is running great on your NX70V, can you write to us at support@laridian.com and tell us what Bibles you have installed, whether they're in main memory or a memory stick, and whether or not you had any problems installing or running the program, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks!
(I'd prefer not to clog up the forum with these responses so reply by email. And no need to reply after about May 15, 2003 -- these forum messages tend to live forever but our need for information will hopefully die quickly.)

I initially had a blank screen, non-working highlighting and no words of Christ in red.
After following your instructions to the letter, everything works just fine.
It is extremely important to do as you say: delete the old bible material. Thanks.

Craig,
I am one of those who is experiencing the white screen issue (I already sent in a detailed email message) and have tried everything I can think of including hard resets, different storage locations, etc. I pray you get to the bottom of the issue so I can start using this program. Thanks for your efforts to solve our issues.
One thought I had was after a hard reset I still had JackFlash loaded. Do those of you who have it working have JackFlash on your device?

Try deleting MyBible and all your Bibles using App > Delete in the Launcher, then reinstall. That seems to be working for some.

Nope, standard launcher doesn't work either. I've tried about every combo of on/off I can think of...
Fireball, mentioned in the APPs thread that a fix is "in the works". I'm assuming that means you've identified the problem....? Hope so! Appreciate the efforts!

Be sure you are actually installing mb3niv or mb3asv, not merely mb3.

I had the white screen problem and it seemed to be because there were no bibles installed. I reset the Clie, put the NIV modules into the proper directory on my memory stick using MSImport, and ther were no more problems.
Could it be locking up because it initially tries to locate the DB's and they aren't there?

Nope, tried all that...RAM, stick, none, partial, etc., etc. Fresh versions. Had no old versions. She's a finicky lil' program or my NZ is a heathen....

Yep, just like oneeyesquare I have tried everything and still get the white screen. In the meantime, I found that Bible+ with Codediver and BibleThumper both can be viewed in HiRes+ and work fine.

I use the nx70v and mybible runs great. I have the NKJV on the my memory stick and the MSG and NASB on a CF card. (no really reason for this. I thought I was installing all of the versions on the CF card, but it works)

Once I followed the directions everything worked great. Excellent update.... Love it.... Read it more now
I had this problem. I contacted Laridian, they gave me the older version. You put it on, run it once and then reinstall. It fixes the problem. I am running the new version now with no issues.

tomw,
I was just thinking this exact same thing and will go email them back right now. There may be something that stays on the Palm that is missing when I install the new version. Thanks for the confirmation of my idea. I hope it works.

HALLELUJAH!!!
Laridian support (Craig) sent me the old version and I installed it with ease. It worked fine without HiRes+ support and things were looking promising. I then installed version 3, without deleting the old version, and I am now a happy man.
So far things look GREAT and I sincerely appreciate the tip from tomw. I don't know what the problem was, but it is solved now.
oneeyesquare, I advise you to contact them and try this method since it appears you had the same issues as me.

Well that's good news! I wonder if everybody with a fresh install has had similiar problems? Seems like most everyone posting here already had the prior version... I emailed them earlier, but I think I missed 'em for the day. Tomorrow I guess...:(

This is the craziest thing. We're still looking into it to see if we can figure out what's causing it. We don't understand at this point why installing the old version fixes it.
Oh well, I'm glad to hear it's working!
Craig
Craig,
I think that the latest version locks up as it is creating the preferences file (MyBible_mBib_appl_) on the handheld. The reason I came to believe that is that as I was experimenting with it before I installed the old version I used FileZ to look at the files it had created. I selected the preference file, hit delete, and ended up with a hard reset. I have never had FileZ act like that before with any file. The old version may be creating it without a problem.
Of course I may be completely wrong on this. At any rate, this fix works and I am a satisfied customer.

Thanks, Tom. I'll pass this along.
I have to agree the 3.0 ROCKS! There is one MINOR issue that the italics in the NASB version spreads over to some of the verse numbers but Craig said it's a known issue. They're legible but the italics in the Clié isn't the greatest, also a "known issue".
