Today finally got around to ringing up Palm repair (accent sounded Singaporean so would be normal I guess) as My TX didnit turn after a weekend a couple of weeks ago before my exams.

I suspected what happened to it (sudden discharge requiring a manual disconnection of the battery which is what happen to my Z72 and thats how I solved it) but didn't do anything hardware wise as it was still under warranty.

Quite good actually no real complaints at all but the person sounded like they where under the influence of some happy pills though :p

Now to wait for my confirmation (yes I getting a refurbed one) to send it off and hope my new one plays nice

I don't know where you live, but in the US it took them about three weeks to get a replacement back to me (I sent it on the October 10th, and I got it on November 2nd). The replacement was in Brand New condition (it even had the little clear plastic cover on the top of the unit), and I've been very happy with it. Maybe you'll have the same luck :)

Hi Modnar, I am not sure that you would have got Palm Singapore Support if calling from outside SouthEast Asia (Singapore is the Regional Headquarters).
You are lucky if you did though as I have used Singapore Support 3 times now and must say the service has always been superb (yes, superb)
It should be noted that I have always done full 'tesing' including the always necessary Hard Reset and test in 'Factory State' where possible.
After telling them of all the symptoms and tests, they immediately give me an SRO# and send me an email with full instructions on how to send the Palm back etc

I took one Palm to a 'Drop Point' shop (my choice, easy for me) and they scanned the device.
When I checked the website I found my replacement had been sent just a few hours later by DHL.
It took 2 days after that but that's because DHL took my new Palm on a 1 day sightseeing tour of Singapore :D

Hope your new one is a keeper :)

All the best, woz of oz

Sounds like we should start a poll... "how many times have you had your TX replaced?" :D

Why don't I start it right now....

"how many times have you had your TX replaced?"I returned my first one to Staples about 2 weeks after purchase when I bricked it w/PXA Clocker. I bought my second one from Palm during a special on Nov. 26, 2006 and am about to replace it as warranty expiration approaches, so in about a week my offical "replaced" count will be two.

Heh yeah Left it overnight and it came on again after resetting it lol

BUT even after a hard reset its far more dodgy.

Rang up again just to cover my bases and it will be still swapped over. (IIRC all nz calls do go to Singapore as well as aussie ones)

And yeah they did say 3-5 days again and I only have to send across town.

So packaging it up :P

I've been using a standard small slot screwdriver with no difficulties.

I've always used a jeweller's slot driver on Torx screws. Never damaged a head that way :)

What kind of a hole would you drill with that bit?

A threaded one ;)

Most drills come with a set of screw attachments these days.

(I know, I know, I'm playing the straight man....)

Does it feel refurbished?
