I'm a longtime TT3 user and have recently aquired a T|X. The jury is still out but there are things I do like and a few that I don't. Anyway, I use RescoBackup on the T3 and have it loaded on the TX as well. All seems fine but I thought I'd give NVbackup a try on the TX. It does perform scheduled backups as advertised but it does not delete the oldest files that extend beyond the cycle size count of three that I have set. It just keeps adding new backups and never "recycles" any. Any suggestions?

There is a check box in the ''Details'' box of each backup set to ''Include in scheduled backup'' make sure that is set if you want the set recycled. Note that even if you check that box now on the older sets, they may not delete right away - but you can manually delete them if you like. All sets that will be recycled will show ''(cycle)'' next to the name of the set.

One time I had this kind of problem where my Cycle was set to 4, and it didn't delete the ones it was supposed to (I only noticed this problem because my free card space was getting smaller and smaller, NVBackup is usually a set and forget solution). I just put the cycle to 8, and waited a day, then back to 4, and it worked. Do't know what caused the problem or solution though....

Been there, done that and thought that would take care of the problem but it just keeps adding new backups. It has never deleted any even though they show "cycle" and exceed the cycle count.......

Hi, have you got the latest version, NVBackup 1.21 (sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=92189&package_id=186018) (you only need binaries)
Also tick 'Copy NVBackup to card on backup' (or something like that)..

All the best, woz of oz

I don't understand why you would need to keep copying the .prc to the card, if it's already there. If that box has to be checked, then it doesn't do what I think it should do.

I was running version 1.18, I upgraded to 1.21 and all seems to be working as expected. I'm not sure why the latest version works any better than the older but I'm not going to dwell on it. Thanks to all for your input.

I have a problem. I had a TE2 and did an NVBackup before I traded it in for my TX. I have my new TX but can't get any of the files restored (from TE2 backup) using Selective restore. I'm guessing it was the method that he used for storing the files that won't allow me to do this... is there a way around it though? I have some source files on my mem card that I would really like to get off of it!

Yes; both issues are covered in the documentation. You need to use the Windows-based unpacking tool.

The issue is that he doesn't back up the files as we know them, he backs up the NVFS volume. Because the TE2 doesn't store things exactly the same way as the TX, the TX is unable to read the restored files.

Copy the files over to your PC though, and run them through the decompressor, and you should have access to most of the files (some don't decompress correctly).

I think you are right that the box does not need to be checked all the time although mine is (mostly laziness) and I have no problems.

I mentioned it in my post because it is an easy way to make sure NVBackup is updated to the new version on the card.
Simply copying to card using the Launcher or whatever should do it too :)

I leave that box checked to be sure that when I update to the next version, it gets over to the card. If I left it to my memory to remember do this after each update, I'd forget for sure. YMMV, though - I just know myself.

I do the same, cause I know I too would forget.

On the cycle problem, I have run into that. It usually happens when you change the cycle amount. Eventually the backups marked as in the cycle will be deleted, but sometimes it does take some time. Last time this happened to me I deleted them, using the cardreader app, after a couple of days.
