Hi:
I've finally filled my T/X to the max and can't put off buying a launcher anymore. I need to be able to launch some apps from my sd card and get them out of internal memory.
So what would folks recommend buying that's fast, or fast as possible, and doesn't eat up lots of memory.
Thanks,
Can't put it off another day . . .

Launcher X is pretty lean.

Launcher X is my launcher of choice. Jeff at Gotreo.com is currently the developer. There hasn'r been a new version in a while but it has everything I need and I can wait. It has a relatively small footprint and is stable. You can go the ZLauncher route, but that does not have anything like a small footprint and needs configuration before you can do anything. LX is usable out of the box although most people do configure it a little bit.
Also if you want help there are a bunch of us in constant contact at www.laucherxplanet.com.

I used LauncherX exclusively on my SJ-30 (Sony) but for some reason it a soft reset on my TX every single time I bring it up.
Maybe I've got some messed up prefs or something, but now I use Hi-Launcher. It's an awesome tool that allows me to launch any app or DA while in any other application. I also use ZLauncher, but Hi-Launcher is the workhorse. It allows launching of card apps, DAs, special functions (like on-off).

Tom,
If you are looking for a free solution you may want to give SCRBTN a try, link (http://www.freewarepalm.com/utilities/screenbutton.shtml) .
Launches apps from internal and from the card, is minimalistic and fast. I have been using it for the past 9 months with no issues at all, to this point have no reason to look for a different launcher.

I second ScrBtn. Simple yet does everything I need! I've been using it for about 4 months and have been very happy with it. :)

The link on freewarepalm.com is dead, try this (http://www.palmgear.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=software.showsoftware&prodid=54146&PartnerREF=&siteid=1) instead.

Hi:
I'll be going with ScrBtn and will pass on the knowledge to others I support.
What apps do run on your sd card with ScrBtn?
Any other ScrBtn setup suggestions or success stories?
Thanks,
Tom

The link is not dead, you just have to jump through a hoop to get it :)
With Firefox ~ right click , copy link location and paste in location bar. Or if you have IE Tab installed, open in a IE Tab.
With ie ~ save target as...
Going through Palmgear is simpler though. ;)

I don't usually run to many apps from the card because of the slowness, so I can't comment there. My ScrBtn setup has a "Favorites" page that contains my top 18 used apps, and this page is can be invoked when I hit the center button on the five-way (if I'm not already on that page). I then use categories to sort out the remaining applications (and you can have one app in as many cantegories as you please), and also have an "Unused" category to keep stuff that I use very infrequently. I have ScrBtn set to be launched when I hit the Home Button on the Statusbar and Hard Button 1. That's about it :)

I download the app. It is interesting and good for a free launcher. It is a lot of configuration, especially if you have a lot of apps like I do.

Launcher X is my launcher of choice. ... There hasn't been a new version in a while ... The PalmGear description hasn't been updated, but the Version History (http://www.gotreosoftware.com/downloads/History/LauncherX%20History.txt) page on the Launcher X page lists a few recent ones.
I'm going to look at ScrBtn too. I use ZLauncher, but I'm having some real memory issues lately. I'm tempted to look at Launcher X, but don't want to do another $20 launcher. ZLauncher is awesome, but resources on the TX are a bit weak IMO.

Version 1.2.36, 10/24/07
Version 1.2.35, 6/22/07
Version 1.2.34, 6/19/07

Yes there have been small incremental updates. These have been mostly to support new devices. The update from1.2.x to 2.0 has been promised by Jeff, but he has his hands full. I have no doubt that he will come through on it. I am a beta tester for LX and therefore know that 2.0 is not yet in the Beta phase.

It caused soft resets (but not every time) until it was fixed to be compatible with NVFS. Getting the latest will require you to request a new serial number because the registration system changed, but if you have a registerd copy, that's free.

Hi:
It looks like ScrBtn will take a longer learning curve so I´m trying out LauncherX. I've posted some questions at www.launcherxplanet.com and hope some of you with more experience can help a newbee.
Thanks,
Tom
