No replies...

Does this mean that Palm is so disappointing that even members of such a large fan site like 1src are giving them up?

Well...you gotta admit when even Alan starts having doubts things really are pretty bleak for Palm.

Don't get me wrong, I love my TX,,,and heck I may even buy a Centro. If it ever comes to VZW. With 3rd party apps for the iphone on the horizon and google just announcing the first handsets using the android os will appear next year, long term prospects for Palm don't look so good right now :(

I was really looking forward something to get excited about with Palm this year. Naming the Foleo and Palm OS II. It just looks like I'll have to wait another year...again.

In the plus column for Palm, the Centro is selling very well. If Palm can keep people interested in that device for the next year, I won't be to worried about Palm.

As power uses we're not Palm's target audiance and we will always be calling for the next new feature in our handsets. Mainstream users don't care as much about the next best thing. If what they have works then they are happy to keep using it.

I've read the column about the test conducted by Brighthand staff on the ALP. It seems this new OS is very capable considering that it has a compatibility layer for legacy Garnet Application, and it is capable of doing multi tasking.

ALP looks nice, yet with the "not invented in house" mentality, Palm would never adapt it unless all the founders got kicked out, which is even more unlikely.

I really doubt we'll see ALP appear on any devices here in the US any time soon. And yes, the GHost emulation layer (Garnet Host) is the Palm OS 5.4.x code. There won't be any of the Palm enhancements in there.
