Hi:

A couple of days ago, my T/X started resetting whenever I push the memo icon. If I run ChronMemo, I can open my memos without any problem. It's just as easy to use ChronMemo but I'd like to solve the Memo problem if possible.

Since the Memo app is in the Rom, I assume it won't do any good to restore from NVbackup. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Tom

Your Memos might be currupted....

Try syncing after setting the Desktop to overwrite the handheld in the hotsync settings.

Hi:

I thought my memos might be corrupt but I can open them in ChronMemo, I have a lot but I tried a representative sample and all opened without crashing.

I haven't synced in a long time so desktop overwriting palm isn't an option but I probably should reset up Palm on my desktop. Mostly I install with FileZ from my card and back up with NVbackup.

It's just bizarre that ChronMemo can open all of my memos while Palm Memo just resets.

It depends on how faut tolerant an app actually is.
Try syncing with palm overwrites desktop first and then do the oposite.

You night also want to have a look at dbfixit (http://www.pimlicosoftware.com/dbfixit.htm) although I't keep a backup of the memo file first.

You can try deleting memo's prefs with filez just to be sure.

Hi:

If I delete Memo prefs, what happens to the Memo categories etc. I guess I'm asking what Memo prefs does.

Thanks for the great suggestions.

alt236 beat me to the punch. DbFixIt (http://www.pimlicosoftware.com/dbfixit.htm)got me past a wall moving Memos and Calendar info from my T3 to my TX. The upgrade failed no matter how I went about it until I purchased and ran it. It was worth the $13 to not have to cut and paste all those memos from one profile to the other.

The prefs only holds setting of the app (like last sorting used and stuff like that).
If you want to be safe, make a copy of Unsaved Prefs to the card and restore it afterwards.

The categories are stored in the memo DB itself.

Hi:

I'll do a backup when I get home, delete the memo prefs and then go onto DbFixIt if necessary. I'll post the results later tonight.

Thanks,

Tom

Hi:

I couldn't find a Memo pref file so I backed up and deleted MemosDB-Pmem, restored it and all is well with Memos. I've remapped my ButtonsEx key from ChronMemo to Memos and am back in business.

Thanks to all!

Tom
