Hi, I usually follow the advice :"if it ain't broke, don't fix it!" However I would like to know which file update are usefull or essential. I understand the MSPro patch is helpful for the CF card driver and that cliefiles is faster than the old one (but I use Acid Image). What about the system patch? And others???
Thanks very much to all! I love CliéSource and my Nx70!

I would go ahead and install everything you currently use. Like if you don't have a Wifi Card you can skip that.
After all many of the applications are fairly new to Sony's OS5 version. They are still working out some bugs.

I tend to disagree with eforce. Installing all the updates uses up a LOT of memory. Think before you install. If you're not having a recurring problem, forget it! I went a little crazy with my old NR but really have avoided any installation of updates that I dont REALLY need.

ditto that, I haven't installed ANY system patches or updates and i can do everything i want to with my Clie. I even have 256Mb MSPro and 512Mb CF. the advantages outweigh the disadvantages and there will be no need to re-install all these patches when the inevitable "murphy's law" hard reset occurs in the middle of nowhere

I'd definitely install the ClieFile update and the WL100 driver if you have the card.

I was able to install all the updates and I still have 7.4MB of internal memory left. I did find out that some of those updates contain files for updating the way the OS runs with other apps. Like for example the ClieViewer update has a jpeg plugin. This file allows the user to view jpegs on the Clie, and the app zLauncher also uses it to allow a user to add a Jpeg background to the interface. I have noticed that the jpeg files definately load a lot quicker now with this update. So, to each his own.

The system update patch fixes one very nasty bug! That is an unintentional hard reset after doing a soft one.
The system update patch hasn't hurt anything, the Atrac3 file can be deleted if you don't use the ATRAC3 music format.

I beg to differ on the system update patch for reasons previously stated. It only does others a disservice :).

Could be wrong, but if the updates turn out to be a mistake can't you just do a hard reset to get rid of it all? Wondering... I installed them all and still have 5.2 megs free... using mem stick and JackFlash.

Yes, that's why you should keep a copy of the original downloaded files on your MS, plus a copy of Flash Enable.

Don't know about Clie Viewer.
The next update you shouldn't need to use the MS Pro patch on the CF card for mp3's and video.
