Hello Everybody

Recently I’m using old Tungsten C but time it comes to change I decided to change to Treo 500v or 750v. I never had Pocket PC in my hands before.
I’m looking for a solid, stable device with build in keyboard, maybe without stylus because of possibility of digitizer drift. Mainly will be used as a PIM, eBook reader, note taking device (OneNote Mobile), music player, telephone, messaging center and should serve me long at last 3 years. Wi-Fi, video playback, camera are not necessary.

Could you give me some general thoughts about mentioned devices are they will suit my needs? I know the spec :) and answer on following questions please:

Is OneNote Mobile can be successfully used without stylus?
Does digitizer drift (or any hardware common problems) exist in Treo 750v?
Treo 500v is coming with trial of MS Outlook is that means after trial is finished I won’t be able to synchronize my device without buying full version? There is alternative way to synchronize my contacts and PIM?

Could you kindly spend a bit of time and give me some ideas please.

Thank you in advance

Ricardo

I am testing Treo 500v (being an avid PalmOS user) and think this device might not be what you want if you are already used to have a PDA. 500v is nice for first timers, not for upgraders (my personal view).

750v is more feature rich and I think it can be equipped with a Wifi card (which is out of the question for 500v with its micro-SD card which is hidden under the battery compartiment).

thank you for reply

I'm considering Treo 500 mainly because there is no digitizer (which drifted a bit in my TC) and after a bit of collecting informations about both I'm even more decided in 500 side. But thank you for you good comment about upgraders and first timers I have to take a look on the subject again :)

I'd suggest playing around with WinMo for a bit before buying. I have used the Palm OS exclusively for years. I tried the HTC Mogul for several months which uses WinMo 6. WinMo to me is so much slower than Palm OS. The multitasking is nice for sure, but the speed and stability of Palm OS far outweigh any WinMo benefits. You may end up feeling differently, and I know many love WinMo. I'd just suggest trying it out if you haven't already, because it is a different animal for sure.
