i just bought a sandisk compact flash card, the package states "guaranteed compatibility" compatible with all digital cameras, handheld pc's, digital music players and other devices that feature a compactflash slot"
i feel like e-mailing sanisk and telling them that the cf card is not compatable with my nx (i'll keep the eruware driver info to myself)
i wonder what they would say?

Im not sure but the reply could be funny, maybe I will do that myself...
Ok I'll be the party pooper, $ony don't advertise the slot on the back of your unit as a Compact Flash slot, infact they darn well near deny that it is such. So the Sandisk statement doesn't apply to your unit anyway.

Below is what I got back today....
Hello,
Thank you for contacting SanDisk Technical Support.
According to the information you have provided me and if I am correct, I have failed to find any Sony NZ pda using a compact flash card. Please advise exact model of your PDA and the type of card you are attempting to use.
The only information I have been able to find with Sony NZ on it is a CLIE Handheld PEG-NZ90 ( by Sony ) and this device uses Memory Stick PRO.
If you have any further questions, please feel free to reply to this e-mail or contact our technical support department toll free at 866-SANDISK (866-726-3475). Our technical support team is open Monday through Friday, 7 am to 4 pm PST. Have a Great Day!
Best Regards,
Sudhi

I almost hate to be the bringer of facts to this, but there's two things to know...
1. SanDisk helped design the CompactFlash Specification. This is a very detailed and precise description of what makes a "CompactFlash" slot.
2. It's a closed standard; if you don't fully implement it, you can't use the words.
That might seem bizarre, but realize that the "CD" logo and description are similarly closed. Last year one of the primaries (I think it was Phillips) sued a large music company because their copy-protected CDs did not meet the definitions (had an incomplete index track or something similar). The real gripe the primary had was that the CDs didn't work in CD Players, making the players look bad. Last I heard, the music company agreed to remove the CD logo; they didn't fix the discs!
Similarly, eons ago the company I was at had one of our products fail to run on a specific model computer, a Leading Edge Model M. This was billed as an IBM-compatible, but it failed to implement Int 13 fully, so it worked with some but not all DOS programs. We solved this by declaring that this computer was not, in fact, 100% IBM Compatible , as proven by the fact that our software didn't run.
SanDisk could legitimately make the same claim. Any product that cannot interface correctly with their industry-definition CompactFlash card does not, by same definition, have a CompactFlash slot.
Cute, huh? :)

I don't buy CD's anymore, too many games are being played, figuratively speaking

On the other hand, a letter-perfect implementation of the specification (for the slot) in a machine whose maker didn't provide *drivers* for the slot still could not utilize it....

Ahh, but then, you see, the SanDisk card works perfectly with the slot. It's just that the slot doesn't work with the machine!
