Okay here's the scoop. First the range specs are less, you may not be able to use it with PPC or a laptop that the current card can do now (WL100). With the WL100 you can download the intel prowireless drivers for PC and PPC. The WL110 is strictly Sony, do you think Sony will have PC and PPC drivers?

So that means...they re-design the wifi card architecture to prevent user from exploiting the wifi card right?

Seems like it is better to get the 100.

Sony.....don't they realize they have a ton of the market share and they don't need to keep making proprietary parts? We all love the Memory Stick. But, what if Sony released it's own CF driver and then began to market it's own CF cards? More market share. People will buy just because it has the word 'Sony' stamped on it. Now this card that can't be used in a laptop. I would have never bought the WiFi card except for the fact that it worked in both my NX and my laptop. That was $100 more that they have made off me because of the compatibility of their product. I just hate to see Sony go down the road of 'proprietary parts'.......:(

I am using the 100 card and its been working fine

agree that Sony going down the proprietary route reminds me of the bad old days when IBM were using this cu-de-sac policies

On the positive side... Sony's now offering a $50 mail-in rebate on either card. Best Buy discounted it another 10 bucks, so that finally makes this item a bit more affordable. (And when I checked, they only had the "100" model in stock.)

Allow me to take the less traveled path and defend Sony...
Sony came out with the Betamax first. It came out on the market, and Sony was promptly sued by Universal over the possible copyright infringement of recording TV shows for personal use. Long story short, more companies signed onto JVC's VHS format, despite being inferior technology, because of the lawsuit. Sony won the lawsuit, but had too few allies to push Beta to be the industry standard, and the industry couldn't support two formats.

See those compact disks that you use every day to play music and store data? That's Sony's proprietary format too.

Read "Sony" by John Nathan. Great book.

Everyone had VHS and those who made purchases, got the VHS so they could swap or whatever with their friends too. Each format had it's own unique advantages and disadvantages.

Unless Sony change the policy, cannot see that we will get very further on this. From experience so far the APIs may not be released (as I said previously this was the route that IBM adopted before learing an important lesson!)

what about dimensions?

is the wl110 the same size as the wl100?

it seems a little shorter and not stick out as much on the clie in pictures.
