image converter wont convert some mpgs or avi ?

Hi all, anybody know why some of my mpg's wont convert, mostly it's the movies that wont convert, is it because of the size ? Thanks in advance.

I think it depends on which codecs you have installed on your computer. Here's what to me, I converted a movie to CLIE format that was coded with DivX4. I needed to rebuild my machine but instead of installing the DivX4 codec I went for the latest DivX5 instead. Image Convertor was no longer able to read the file.

This might have been a coincidence but I re-encoded the original file (using VirtualDub) with the DivX5 codec and now I can use Image Convertor again.
