Not enough free NVFS cache.

no, the 'format' of the downloads from those pages are a bit different... specially that from palmgear, which redirects you so if you wait a whie you can be promped to save the file.
Cache can be an issue but if you read and inform yourself you will see you can download files.

On my TX I can not download from Palmgear at all because of the format of the site.
I don't know the technical aspects but tapping on 'Download Now' just causes the Blazer screen to flash.
I can't even log into MyPalmgear :(
Try Softpedia (handheld.softpedia.com/deviceSoftware/2) it is Blaazer friendly :)
You can download to the card from 1src but it will appear as download.php
Using a file manager change this to
download.zip or appname.zip
and you should be able to open it.

NetFront can handle PalmGear.
I also use Netfront for palmgear *high five* :D
Thus I sugest, again for the hundreth time, that somone should make a web browser switching DA, so you can get all the way to the download screen in blazer (which I feel is one of the fastest palm webbrowsers) then use the DA to view the webpage with Netfront to dowload.

If you initiate a Palmgear download using Opera the actual transfer will be handled by Blazer.

The NetFront idea has it's merits for sure and I appreciate the info :)
However, Palmgear which touts itself as the #1 place for Palm apps has not done anything about the situation.
Why? I can only guess it's because they are:
Too lazy
Too stingy
Too busy counting their profits
Do not care about the small percentage of people who want to download via Blazer (the default Palm browser)
All of the above
I don't know for sure as they did not even bother to reply to my emails on this subject.
Even a 'We don't care' reply would have been better than nothing.
( Imagine STERN emoticon here )
Although I joined and used Palmgear when I got my first Palm I have not used it since getting my TX.
I like to support sites that support me an my TX.
So I will keep using and recommending other sites.
I get by fine without ever going to Palmgear, Google is my friend :)
Sorry if this sounds like a rant (and I guess it is) but I just find it ridiculous :)

I agree with you 100%!
To add my $0.02 (btw where did the cents symbol go?) to this thread, I generally use Opera, but I just found a new method. While viewing a particular website (parsed to mobile view using Moxy), I was able to actually download in Blazer from PG.
I proceeded to go through the download screens, logged in to PG in the mobile view and it stopped at the download (something about "cannot handle this action/file"). So I decided to tap the "View in HTML" option at the bottom. What do you know? It immediately initiated the download form in Blazer. So this may be my new PG method.

I also found another way to download, but it's kind of crude. If you try downloading in Blazer, e.g., on a TE2, it won't download anything over 2mb. There is a trick that I've learned, though, and that's to copy the file link and open it up in Universe, which downloads quite nicely, and will even let you rename the file if you want to. I really haven't had too many problems, though, downloading on my T|X through Blazer... I actually downloaded an 11mb file over a GPRS connection with a cell phone (JVM) (we can only get dialup here in the sticks, my sad mobile phone has a faster internet connection than my phone line!) using Blazer, with no problems.
Peace,

I thought that Universe didn't support downloads?

Universe supports downloads, it is just slower than Blazer and Netfront.
p.s. why did you think Universe put a /Downloads folder on the SD card :D
