Over the last three years.

IBM Z50
Sony Clie S300
Ipaq
Sony Clie 710C
Sony Clie NR70
Palm Tungsten T
Sony Clie NX60 - current PDA

Of all the ones I had the Win CE IBM Z50 and the Ipaq were the most unreliable. Very bad ownership experience and I sold them both within two months of ownership.

I briefly tried the Tungsten T, but after a month I got rid of it as well. Once you have owned a Clie its hard to be satisfied by a Palm. You don't realize all the great software Sony bundles in with handhelds (Clie RMC, Audio Player, Movie Player, MS import, and on and on) until you buy a Palm and get nothing except Versa Mail. You end up having to spend an extra hundred bucks for a SD card reader and replacements for all the stuff that came with a Clie. My wife choice to sell her own N760C and keep my OS 4.1 NR70 instead of the Palm Tungsten T. She hated the thing and would never have anything, but a Clie for herself.

My PDAs in the order of acquisition:-

1. Palm Pro - can't remember date... (sold)
2. Palm IIIx - 25/12/99; loved it! 15/01/00 upgraded it to 8MB (sold).
3. Palm IIIc - 02/06/00; lured by the prospect of color... (sold)
4. Palm Vx - 06/10/00; tempted by the slim form factor (sold)
5. Psion Revo Plus - can't remember date
6. Clie 615C - 17/04/02; it's time to feel the power of Sony (battery life and screen a letdown)
7. Clie SJ30 - 17/11/02; tempted by the screen n the small form factor
8. Palm Zire 71 - 04/05/03; OS5, screen, speakers, navi stick but it's a pain to keep it in your pants etc without accidentally turning it on...had to resort to 3rd party softwares to overcome this problem...and the so-called plastic case is horrible. I guess they didn't factor in the case factor when designing the otherwise excellent Zire 71. Just wish it had more internal RAM though...and some sort of MS Import utility. I really missed this awesome app. I was using my MS as a storage for many non-Palm apps.

First one was my Cassiopea....yes pocket pc... Got stolen with along with my 2000 Acura Integra. Second, to replace that was the Visor Edge. That finally conked out after a year and because of my wonderful girlfriend, convinced me to get the BB's warranty with the Edge I upgraded to the N760C. Needless to say I was in love! And a whole calender year later, the N760C got wasted by god knows what I now have my total entertainment system-my NX60.

I can play this game...

Sega Personal IR Communicator!
- Got me from 4th to 6th grade. I still have it. Great little device for a kid. One of those "electronic diary" type devises. It had a TV remote program built in. Used it for phone numbers and journal. Now I don't know what the password was and I've been locked out of my own journal!

NEC MobilePro 700
- Got this in 9th grade I think. Big, slow, monochrome, poor battery life, but it was free! Wide screen with keyboard... this thing was pretty friggin cool. It had a built in modem so I would tap into my dail up account while on the road. WindowsCE was my introduction to Avantgo.

Handspring Visor Deluxe - Ice Blue
- Used this device from 10th to 11th grade I think... sort of fuzzy on that. My introduction to PalmOS.

Handspring Visor Pro
- Had to have it because I had a couple Springboard modules, and it was the first Palm with 16 meg of RAM. Also my first built in battery. It spoiled me so much, but in the end it was a dissapointment. I think I would have been a lot happier if I had gone with a m505. But then again, rocking my GPS springboard module was worth it, and it saved me many many times as I started driving. Getting real time position with Mapopolis is priceless when you don't know where you are.

T615
- This is when I fell in love with color. Slim form factor, something the Visor never had, and HiRes! I still miss this unit. The form factor is just soo hard to beat. I hold my friend's every now and then, and I really miss it. I had the Innopocket aluminum case for it. Very nice.

NR70V
- I had to have Hires+. I didn't think I would use the camera, but I was very very very wrong. The speed difference was also very dramatic.

NX70V
- New Year's Eve, 2003 I dropped my NR while at a party. The screen was DOA. I used my CompUSA plan (I knew there was a reason to get it) to get the NX. I didn't really want it, because I had my NR setup just the way I liked it. Now, though, I have to say it is the best thing that has happened to me. The speed and features of the NX have blown me away. Now with the WiFi card I have found tons of new uses for my trusty PDA.

My progression has been kind of interesting. I went from carrying my NEC MobilePro around in a big leather binder, to a square Visor, to a sleek T615, back up to a moderately sized NX. I am amazed when I think back to the applications I had loaded on my Visor Deluxe, and the things I have on my NX. Though a few of the programs remain from my first Palm, most of the programs do much much more than I ever thought would be possible.

DataStor 8000 (circa 1985, like a large calculator)
DataStor 8000c (circa 85 on, credit-card sized)

These pups had 8000 BITS of memory, but only took six bits per character (no lower case). Calendar, schedule, contact manager, 16 alarms that could be tied to any record. The 8000c model came in a slim credit-card sized case, held to it via rubber magnet!

HP 95LX, 100LX, 200LX - from whenever they were released, probably late 80s, through to now. DOS palmtops with PCMCIA expansion, IR, keyboard, and good PDA software in ROM.

IBM PC110. Not technically a PDA, but a tiny Win95 VGA computer. Used it as a PDA for a while.

Palm IIIc. Got it with my DSL. Otherwise I would have never left keyboards.

Which brings us to last year, at which point it gets complex and messy due to development tasks, but includes both PPCs and Palms, including a Zire71 for the wife.

First real electronic organizer would be the Sharp EL something or other. Pretty much a calculator that had letters.
Palm Pilot Personal - Just became outdated for what I needed.
Palm IIIxe - Took a nasty spill off my desk.
Sony S320 - Killed by my two year old son.
Sony N760C - Killed by a large woman on an airplane Email me if you want the full story :P
Sony NZ90 - A true wonder!!! Best pda I have ever owned. Damn near beats my laptop.

On the light side:
Pilot Pro
Palm IIIx
Palm V
Palm Vx proto (with expanded memory, but still called V)
Palm Vx
Palm M505

Then over to the dark side:
T615
NR70V
NX70V

Whilst waiting for all my apps to become OS5 friendly (Quicksheet - promised soon; Smartlist - ??; Doing - ??) the NR is still my PDA for daily use. Would love a programme that allows OS5 to emulate OS4

Favourite PDAs? Pilot Pro (I still pick it up from time to time and marvel at it); Vx; NR70.

What have I learnt? I clearly have more money than sense (not difficult). Palm can't really come to terms with those hires/virtual input ideas can they ...... and Sony can't cope with the idea of people who want to use FOLDING KEYBOARDS - they must be taking a patent out on thumbs ;).

1A - Philips Velo 1 - Ran Windows CE 1.0. 16 color greyscale, built-in modem and a built-in keyboard. Got me first hooked on PDAs.

2A - Sony S300 - Great little machine even if it was Sony's first attempt at today's Clie.

3A - Sony N760C - Oh man, if I ever had to give up my NX, I'd go back to the 760C. I really hated to give this one up. Nice form factor, reliable, and I even had a Titanium case for it..... *tears*

4A - Sony NR70 - No camera, but it was the first clamshell. I loved it! Besides, widescreen movies in Kinoma really impressed the chicks(well, more guys than chicks).

5A - Sony NX70 - What can I say about it? It's a superb machine that does what I need and then some!

Now for my wife's small PDA list....
1B - Sony T-615 - Hated this little sucker. Battery life...what battery life? Got her through 2 years of medical school though.

2B - Sony T-665 - Awesome little machine. My wife loves it and she is even thinking about getting a NX! I'll have to upgrade to the NZ so I can stay ahead of her!

My first real PDA was a NEC MobilePro 450 running Windows CE 1.0, but was later upgraded to 2.0 (no flash ROM back then, had to dish out $100 for the upgrade). Had an 8MB PCMCIA flash memory card. This thing rocked back then.

Took me a while to upgrade, but next was an m130. This got me hooked on Palms, but I needed something more powerful.

So, now I got me an NX60. Hopefully I won't need to upgrade anytime soon, but I guess I'll have to see what comes out next.:)

I started with a Palm V. Loved it, but it soon filled up. I sold it to one of my brothers-in-law.

Bought a Palm Vx. It went bad - half the screen would not work. By the time I was done with Palm support I had gone through SEVEN Palm Vx's. When the last one came I gave it to my daughter. (She used it for about 9 months and then it went bad - same problem, half the screen was unresponsive).

I bought a T415.

After I heard about Cliesource, and all the stuff Clies could do, I decided to get a colour PDA. I went looking for the T615 but they were sold out, so I bought a T665 (and sold my T415 to my daughter - bless her!).

I really like the T665.

Sharp something or other to keep track of addresses

Palm Pro (bought used in 1998 and knew I was hooked!)

Palm Vx--was I cool!

T615c- when Palm started faltering in hardware and support (ever have a button get stuck under the case?) What a difference in the color as well

And now NX70V! While I wasn't quite ready to retire the 615, the fall from my pocket in the parking lot convinced me that I could not last more than 3 hrs without my brain!

Started out with an NEC MobilPro (WinCE 1.0), then got a Hnadspring visor but only had it for a week. Purchased a Compaq Aero2110 with Win CE 2.0 and upgraded to PocketPC shortly thereafter. It still works and also doubles as a paperweight on my desk. Its a Pocket PC for people with large pockets. Then, last year I started the Palm Bonanza with a Palm VIIx which I gave to my brother in law (to justify purchasing a PEG T415 which I had for 3 months and sold to a co-worker. Used the profits to buy a PEG T615C which I am happily using now. The only way I will ever own a new Palm is if I'm divorced which my wife tells me will happen if I buy a new Palm...hmmm that NZ looks nice. :D

Toshiba Libretto 70 - Pentium MMX upgrade, with bigger HD

Sharp Mobilon 4500 - Windows CE HPC, with builtin modem, color + camera acessory

TRGpro - 1st Palm device. Builtin CF slot, able to play wav file.
