Hello,

I think it's the best forum to announce that our new product, TreoOfflineViewer that was supposed to work on the Treo smartphones only, actually works only on the Palm TX, too.

TreoOfflineViewer - browse web pages locally on your SD card with your favorite web browser.

Hello,

Is this like a substitute for PalmOne Files and the FileBrowserLib? This functionality (as I understand) comes with the T5/LD, and can be added to the TX by installing PalmOne Files and Lib's. It is not a bad idea, but this functionality (and much much more) can be obtained by installing PalmOne Files.

Provided you have T5/LD available from which you can obtain these files...

not to sound rude, but i wouldnt like to pay for this... :(

Why? Blazer can open files from card, you just need to know how to...
If you have RescoExplorer you can specify the extensions and whenever you have a htm you can launch it from there.

If you are not a RE user the you can simply type the folder direction (so you *need* to remember the path) inside the "go to web page" option formated like this:

file://name of the card/Path/name of the file with extension

using spaces with the %20 format. The "name of card" can also be the 'BUILTIN' with an extra / before it. Example (my homepage):

file:///BUILTIN/Mobile/Portal%20Main.htm

The only thing that this app does it much more easier :D

im not sure if its the name of the card or just 'card'

my card is called 'CARD' but when i open a file from it, page info says it is just 'card' not caps CARD ...

You can also bookmark a frequently used local file, so you don't have to type it in every time :D

It's funny, because I was just having this disscusion at PalmInfoCenter yesterday ;)

Yes, the "Open File" part of TreoOfflineViewer is the substitution of the files that you mentioned. I'm not sure, however if it is fully legal to copy those files out of other devices. Is it?

Anyway, I don't see any other way of activating the "Save Source to Memo" command in Blazer.

I believe it is legal to copy PalmOne Files from a T5 or Lifedrive if you own one of those devices, but obviously I'm not sure. "Save Source To Memo" can be activated on the T|X by drawing a circle in the bottom right corner of the "Power" Panel in Preferences.

A bit off topic: Any idea what else does the Palm Easter Egg unlock?

Wow, I didn't realise that! :)

I'm curious, too! :)

If you have Drive Mode from a T5, it'll show "Trace to Memos" with the Easter Egg activated. While your in the Memos app, every once-in-a-blue-moon a Taxi will come across the screen. There is also a way to have an "inch-worm" inch across the screen. Stuff like that.

How do you know you have activated the easter egg? Nothing happens when I make a ring like described above?

Can someone explain why I would want to save an html memo? How do I read it afterwards?

@Church Punk

After the thread hijack, we are discussing an apparent (and system wide) easter egg that is included in Palm OS.

If you go to Palm -> Power Prefs and draw a circle at the lower right corner, an easter egg will appear momentarily (it might take a few circles before it POS actually get it.).

This will allow make a "save source to memo" menu item to appar in blazer and a few other things as BrentDC said.

An easter egg appears right where you make a ring:

If you were a webmaster you could need such ability sometimes. Also you may sometimes wish to see some hidden HTML code elements, etc.

You read this... in Memos. As a HTML code, not as a resulting webpadge.

Its also usefull if you want to write a script which replicated the actions of a web page (see POST variables for example).

The "inch-worm" is triggered with the # graffiti stroke - the ascii worm inches across the menu bar after about 10 seconds.

Yep, were you ever able to get the OS5 credits? That's the one I could never get....

FYI. Today we released a new version of TreoOfflineViewer (http://www.palmgear.com/?xyz=135700). The greatest new feature is the ability to save web pages onto the SD card.

In "POWER" inside the prefs app, (open power) you draw a small circle in the bottom right corner, a graphic of an easter egg will apear, thus unlocking many hidden features :)
