Hello!

Recently picked up a 1 gig Transcend CF card, and the nifty driver, and had a couple of questions...

1. I successfully hotsynched an mp3 (took forever! Must buy a CF reader) but it installed to the "audio" folder in the root directory, and I had to move it to the palm->programs->msaudio folder manually for audioplayer to find it... is this normal? Is there a way to tell the install tool to install the files where they should go?

2. Tried to hotsynch a short .mqv movie, and got an error... realized that there was no mq_root-->100mqv01 directory structure, so added it manually (through zlauncher file manager) and tried again.. no go. Hotsynch log says the following:

ERROR: The following file(s) could not be installed to the CompactFlash Card-2 because there is no application on your handheld to open these files.

Any thoughts? Seems like a CF reader will solve both these problems, as I can just drag and drop. But in the interest of science, thought it would be worth asking...

Don't know, can a movie be HotSync'd to the Clie? Normally MS Import would be used, that's the only thing I can figure at the moment.

You can hotsync it, but you have to trick it into letting you...here's how:

1. Open the install tool
2. Click "Add"
3. In the "File Types" dropdown select "All Files(*.*)"
4. Browse to the MPEG and select it.
5. Click open
6. Select the MPEG in the list of files to be installed (if the file has an extension other than MPEG, rename it to MPEG for the HotSync)
7. Click Change destination
8. On the left side, change the "Install to" dropdown list from "Handheld" to "CompactFlash Card-2" (_not_ "CompactFlash Card)
9. Select the MPEG and click on the "<<" button
10. Click OK
11. HotSync
12. Create a folder called /MQ_ROOT/100MVQ10 if one does not already exist
13. Find the file on the CF using ClieFiles (it will be in /DCIM)
14. Move it to the /MQ_ROOT/100MVQ10 folder
15. If you had to rename the extension to MPEG, tap for the menu and rename the file back to it's original extension

You can batch these as well so you don't have to do this one at a time. Additionally you can drag from the folder containing the movies into the install tool and drop them there, saving some time.

WOW!

Thanks for the incredibly well detailed instructions!

I wound up going ot best buy though, and picked up a $20 CF reader.... it's nice, fast, and easy. I'll keep your instructions handy though in case of emergency hotsynch needs!
