Right now I have Ptunes 3.0.9 running successfully on my Clie (nx7ov) because it's the only version with Clie support but I can hear the sound perfectly in v3 probably because I have the mca2 hack installed So can I run v4? It won't even launch please help please don't say I can't because I really, really, really wanna stream live365 on my Clie! :)

Since Normsoft (don't know if they still do) had a warning statement about not supporting Clies any further, I think you are best off where you are at 3.0.9. That's what I still use on both my Clie TH55 and my Treo 700p. I do not see the $20 upgrade value in 4.x. The sound and functionality are great on both units and I can do streaming Shoutcast stations on them, which meets my needs. I don't use any of the additional formats supported by v4 either. YMMV. ;)

You can't stream in 3.0.9 the difference Is a hole MB which is like a 75% upgrade! Money isn't an issue right now you know you guys jack are apps all the time like Netfront now all of the sudden when we want one of your apps theirs a problem? This sucks!

Is it like totally impossible to run v4 on a Clie!

I was thinking last 3.x release, which is 3.1.8, which I have and it does stream over wi-fi on my Clie and on my Treo! ;)

Do a full RAM backup with the backup app of your choice . . . try v4 and see! :)

PS, found this over at Normsoft "Knowledge Base:"

** Due to Sony's decision over three years ago to discontinue its Clie line of PDAs, NormSoft has frozen its support for Clie models at the following levels:

Clie models UX40, UX50, TJ35, TJ37, TH55: Pocket Tunes 3.0.9 is the last supported version of Pocket Tunes for these devices. Customers are strongly advised not to install a later version of Pocket Tunes on these devices, and any customers requesting support for such installations will be directed to revert to Pocket Tunes 3.0.9.

All other Clie models: There is no supported version of Pocket Tunes for these devices. Users are strongly advised not to install Pocket Tunes on these devices. If a you do install Pocket Tunes on an unsupported device and subsequently purchase a Pocket Tunes registration code, there will be no refund available for such a purchase if the user later becomes dissatisfied with Pocket Tunes operation or performance. Also please note that NormSoft support is not able to provide answers to questions concerning unsupported devices.

If you are using an earlier version of Pocket Tunes (3.0.9 or older) Pocket Tunes currently does not natively run on most Sony PalmOS 5 handhelds because Sony has not made their audio API available. Specifically the NR, NX, NZ, and TG series are not supported because they use PalmOS 5.0 or 5.1 and lack the standard audio API.

However CliePet has made available a beta version of his software that will allow you to play music with Pocket Tunes (and lots of other software that uses the PalmOS 5 sound API). You can download CliePet from:

http://www.aibohack.com/clie/modclieaud.htm

Please use caution and backup your device when using this beta version; he says that some people have reported needing to do a hard reset on their CLIE after using it.

Exactly NormSoft doesn't give a crap about Clie owners. I just sent Dmitry an email requesting an app like MaxX but one that would allow Pocket Tunes v4 on a Clie, I'm waiting for a reply... he's my last chance :)

I did it did launch but then every sudden move I made it sent me back to my launcher + I really hate to use maketungsten its too dangerous and it hasn't been updated in 2 years it caused other problems in my Clie too.

Hi,
MCA and maketungsten IMHO is the only chance you have. But you need to enable MCA first, ande then MakeTUngstem!

I would use maketungsten if it had a list of your apps and I could just check one off a list, but making your HOLE system think its a tungsten is WAY too dangerous the purpose of this app was to let WebPro work on a Clie right? so wouldn't it make more sense to check WebPro off a list? Tam Hanna if your reading this and plan to make an upgrade I would really applicate it if you added this feature, untill then this I can't use this app.

Just use PTD 3.1.8 like wellsjs said. It works perfectly well on a TH55 and streams.

Just installed 3.1.8 but like I suspected it can't stream at ALL! It keeps saying reconnecting and buffering a live365 link. When is there going to be a REAL streaming solution for palm this is worse than kinoma!

There is a real streaming support for "Palm", just not for "Clie".

You can stream. However, I have trouble with some of those websites, e.g. Shoutcast. I simply enter the URL that I want to stream as a bookmark in PTD and it works very well.

No, Clie runs Palm OS, Palm runs Palm OS. Sony changed a lot of stuff, and broke a lot of compatibility.....

Ammar, I've been using my th55 with Ptunes for 3 years now and it has always streamed shoutcast or 365. It works at my home on wifi or at a typical wifi hot spot. My version of pocket tunes is 3.0.6 deluxe (2002 -2004). I have not had to buy any additional software or hacks to make this happen. See LanMans post above.
