Using the included datebook, is it possible to have an event cross over from one day to the next, as one solid block? For instance, I'm working 11PM on thursday to 8AM friday Morning. Currently, I have a block from 11:00PM-11:59PM on thursday, and 12AM-8AM on friday.

Speaking about datebook/organizers... Does anyone have experience with a more flexible freeware datebook program capable of this? Is there a datebook program with an advantage worthy of it's expense?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Kind regards
Peter

The built in doesn't either does a freeware- which I could know. But Agendus does. It is easy to use and very stable. Or DateBk5. Both are Shareware but worth the money. It depends upon your needs. Agendus gives you a great advantage of using Icons. In a monthly view you can see only icons and have an idea what the month will be like(or week). great job on this.

DateBk5 will do it and more. I have been using this program in its various incarnations since my Palm IIIx, and could not function without it. It's really great looking on the NX.

BTW, DateBk5 will also show a month view with icons, as well as a 6 month and 12 month view (but without icons). The Custom Views are a real timesaver for me; I can easily see categories of appointments and to do items for me and the people who work for me.

Frequent updates, too. Well worth the price, and the profits go to a wildlife preserve.

DateBk5 gets my vote. (Check out the latest beta at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/pimlicodatebk - it's very stable and has new features for OS5 devices.) I've tried to like Agendus (Action Names), but it's just buggy, and their tech support has been less than helpful, IMHO. DateBk5 rocks as a Datebook replacement. However, if you want an easier integrated contact management solution, Agendus is a little easier to use. The best advice I can offer is what has been said time and time again: try each for a few days to see how you like them. DateBk has a little steeper learning curve (but there is a nice manual included in pdf format), but I personally think it's worth it. (I paid for it. CESD (the author) is responsive and active in the Yahoo forum. Profits go to Gorilla Haven. The warez copies out there are buggy and, not the least, dishonest.)

Cheers!

I have to go with Aendus as well. Ultimately, it seems that, much like Mac vs PC, it's what you're familiar/comfy with. I have used both DateBK5 as well as Agendus, and Agendus just fits me better.
As you will so often hear in these posts, try the heck out of both of them, then buy the one you like.

DateBk5 is the best. It's very easy to warez.

Will people never learn? How about supporting the developers jrockway?

I too, have tried to like Agendus. But I keep finding little things in Datebk that that seem logical that aren't implemented in Agendus. For example:
1. In Agendus, you can not scroll through your list of contacts and select one using the jog wheel.
2. If you need to repeat an event on irregular dates, You have to enter each event manually.
3. The split screen in Agendus is always right in the middle of the screen. Regardless of the number of todos.
4. The ability to make templates.(For any given event, ie parent conference, I can control, color, font, catagory, time and icon. Save it and apply it to any subsequent event like it for future use. In Agendus, each one of those attributes needs to be set for each event.
5. Catagories
6. Support. Agendus support is lacking. Program bugs, sometimes take months to be resolved, if any. And updates are slow to evolve. Datebk support is unparallelled(except for maybe ZZechs). Severe problems are dealt with immediately if not sooner and updates can be found monthly. Keeping Datebk compatible with many newer machings.

These are just a few of the small things I find make Datebk5 superior as a Datebook replacement. But, you need to try each for yourself.

I agree I tried agendus and I chose to buy Datebk5 instead. The most annoying thing to me about agendus was that stupid split screen that never changed form the middle of the screen. I was so annoyed by it I deleted before the day was out. I like Datebk5's option to set the number of lines it's splitscreen uses.

The split screen does NOT need to be in the middle of the screen.
Simply grab it on the line (not the arrows and dot in the middle) and drag up and down... works fine for me in version 6...

The split screen is a neg screen!
I cope with Agendus for it has this wonderfulicon view for days, weeks and even months! DateBk5 gives up on in this. But I have tried it and have to admit DateBk isn't bad at all it is quite good. But compared to Agendus some minor problems appear. As soon as a new version comes out, I hope I can switch. The sync between Agendus and StarOffice is sometimes really disgusting:
I set up a category for an appointment, after the next sync everything is gone. And all are unfiled again.
Outlook instead is okay.
Both apps have their strengths. I wouldn't say any is inferior or worst. It depends upon your needs.

For the contacts:
I use Contacts 4. And THIS is a application you want!

Based on this thread, I downloaded the Datebk5 trial about two days ago. I have never been moved so quickly to purchase and register a piece of Palm OS software, which I will probably do tomorrow.

Two questions:

My major frustration is that I want basically the same interface on my PC desktop. Is there some replacement for the Clie/Palm Desktop software that could show the icons and colors and allow me to copy and move stuff so easily?

Other question: what are the differences in the new beta?
