I am giving up getting my clie to sync with my new laptop/Vista. I have two clies, an nx80v and a sj30. The sj30 is already on my pc running windows xp and all is fine there. Can I also put the nx80v on that same xp computer? Will I need to install the desktop for the 80v(from the original cd) on that pc also, so there will be 2 clie/palm desktops there? Both clies have different hot sync names so at least that is not a problem. I sure would appreciate any info anyone can give me.

Try syncing without updating first. If it doesn't work, try updating Palm Desktop. When you update, there will be only one version. I am worrying that the SJ30 won't work with the new Palm Desktop, but I am not sure.

If the '80 is newer, you'll probably need to update to that Sony Palm Desktop, but you should be able to sync - I can sync my T665 and TH55 on the same system, just not my Zodiac :(

If the '80 is newer, you'll probably need to update to that Sony Palm Desktop, but you should be able to sync - I can sync my T665 and TH55 on the same system, just not my Zodiac :(The problem is that the Zodiac Desktop makes no provision for the possibility that you might sync something else as well. It requires a special USB driver for the Zodiac and the Tapwave 5.27 version of Hotsync Manager, and installing the Tapwave Desktop removes any existing Palm USB driver that might be installed. :(
Try this:
Copy the Zodiac USB driver from the CD to a known location, like a floppy. (You want the .SYS and .INF files.)
Put in the Tapwave CD, and start the Zodiac Desktop install.
Select Custom installation.
Install only the Tapwave Hotsync Manager. Do not install the full Desktop.
(And while you're at it, disable the Tapwave High Scores Conduit.)
Now Hotsync the Zodiac. Windows will see a new USB device trying to connect, and request a driver. Point it at the previously copied Zodiac driver INF file. Windows will install the Zodiac USB driver along side of the existing Palm driver. The Tapwave Hotsync Manager will run, and you should be able to sync.
I had to do this when my Zodiac joined the family, but there was still a TE and my SO's Visor Pro in the mix. The Zodiac requires the Zodiac USB driver and the Tapwave 5.27 Hotsync Manager. The other devices use the standard Palm driver and don't care what version of Hotsync they are talking to, so everything works.
