I've been trying to find information about this...
Specifically:
1. What's the best battery to buy and where can I get it?
2. Are there instructions that will tell me how to repalce a TX battery?
3. Who has done this successfully?

usedpdaparts.com sells a 1400 mAh battery for the TX made by Cameron Sino. I recently bought one form an eBay store made by Cameron Sino, installed it, ran it through 6 charge/discharge cycles and found that it was not as good as the original 1250 mAh battery in my TX. In fact, it got somewhat worse with each cycle. It should have improved for the first few cycles then maintained its capacity for a long time.
Maybe the battery I got was old stock. Maybe the ones at usedpdaparts are fresher and better. Maybe I just got unlucky and got a dud.
Replaceing the battery is quite easy. Remove the four torx head screws from the back of the TX. Use a butter knife to pry the back case half off the front half by putting the knife in the stylus silo side of the TX to do the prying.
Unsolder the battery wires. Use the same butter knife to pry the battery loose from the case. It is glued on and you will need to use glue to stick the new battery in place.
The case halves fit together very nicely but you must be careful and gentle. It is possible to get the top end plastic piece (end with power button) in cockeyed but it is easy to do it correctly if you take your time and use care.
