I use ZLauncher and via the file manager, I noticed I have all these .swf files on my NX. I know they are Flash extensions, but I haven't used Flash player. I have recorded a couple of short movie files and played them back a time or two, but they have since been deleted. These .swf's are all in ROM so I can't get rid of them. I'm wondering: were they there all along? If not, where did they come from? And how the &*$% can I get rid of them?

Suggestions?

which NX ?
are you "absolutely sure" that they're in ROM ?

bloody weird,
as far as i know, the only place that swf files should be is in :
MS/palm/programs/mmflash

but anyway you should be able to delete them with the flash player
just open one, an use the drop down menu

If you use Filez to show the ROM files, you will see them too. I think they are for the Clie Demo app and for the Sony reset screen.
There is no way to delete them; but with Filez you can copy them if you want to check one by one.

Weirderstill, I fear - if I open Flash Player, it tells me "No Contents"

OK... Use Filez to copy the files to the MMFlash folder in the MS. Then you will be able to see what each one does.

These files are designed to run using the Flash Player, but the UI that we have only allow us to open files that are stored in the MS.

oh yeah , I see it now
I copied one (1a.swf) to MS and it didn't appear in Flash Player
so I looked at it in File Manager and it is actually called
1a.swf.pdb

Really, really strange. That will teach me to go snooping through file manager that early in the morning! Thanks y'all!

No strange at all. The extended Welcome as well as the the Sony logo and various other presentations are actuall Flsh files, and the reason you can't play them is that they are actually PDBs (which basically are containers with about any content), which only contain swf files. After extraction you can play some, but not all on your PC.
