(Note: This same poll has been posted over at Brighthand.com (http://forum.brighthand.com/showthread.php?t=248145). I also realize that this is technically in the wrong forum, but I'm looking to make sure this thread gets spotted.)

Ok gang, I'm going to be hitting the road next week for an IT user's conference. The only question I have is what devices should I bring with me. I'll be leaving my company issued notebook at the office.

So, in addition to my Treo 700p (Sprint), what should I bring with me as a backup? Some possible options are:

1. Just the Treo 700p and accessories (chargers, SD cards, batteries, GPS)
2. A Centro (ya, like I'd actually be able to get one before I go)
3. A Palm TX
4. A Palm LifeDrive
5. An Apple MacBook dual booting to Mac OS X and Windows XP Pro
6. An Apple 5th Gen 30GB iPod

What do you think? Let's keep the voting to just the items listed above. I'm also adding a poll to this thread for easy voting. I'll announce the results on this week's 1SRC.com Palm Powered podcast.

I'm sure you could survive on the Treo 700p and accessories on it's own. Bring the MacBook if possible but you may end up not using it.

When I had my Zaurus, I could use it to replace a laptop/desktop easily. USB host and a handful of powerful apps along with wifi and a 4gb MicroDrive.

USB host lets me plug in a camera or external hardrive into it and transfer data around. I could plug in a USB keyboard or mouse. Surf the internet. Watch videos and all. Really great office suites including OpenOffice.

My HTC Universal can do nearly everything I want it to do except USB host. It's a major drawback in my mind.

Of course, you know I'm voting for the MacBook :) It's better to have a reliable machine in tow.

And the Asus Eee is getting less and less attractive with each time it's mentioned on Engadget. http://www.engadget.com/search/?q=Asus+EEE

I almost thought I saw some Foleos at Palm's Centro booth at DigitalLife. They were just small Sony Vaios. What a tease :(

If you are bringing the MacBook, what is the point of not taking the work laptop?

I'm taking the MacBook for two reasons: So I can watch DVDs and record the podcast while I'm traveling. I probably won't do an editorial. I'm not Taking my work notebook because, I"ll be able to get work email on my Treo and I'd rather have the Mac with me than the boat anchor...er...Dell Latitude.
