I remember reading somewhere on here a detailed set of instructions about editing the registry to get your computer to rediscover the palm when you plug it back in. This solved this same problem I had about a year and a half ago. Does anybody remember where that was?

(I already did a search for it on both this site and google - the imagecfg.exe solution does not work for me)

Have a look in this thread (http://www.1src.com/forums/showthread.php?t=118169).

It lists the registry key for palm devices.

Thanks. That was similar to the one I was looking for. I think the other said to delete that same key in each and every controlset.

Now I've got to give it a try.

I was looking over at the forums at palm and this is NOT a minor problem. It seems to be rampant. You would think that palm would do something about it.

Just did it (deleted the reg keys in the other controlsets also) and it worked like a charm!! Palm should definitely have this on their website.

I know... Its a pretty common problem, especially with Card Export.

Palm should actually have a reset tool on their site that removes these for you automatically.

Along with a tool which fixes common PDA software problems for the device themselves...
But, this is only wishfull thinking.

Don't you really mean that Access (formerly known as PalmSource) should fix the applications they own: Hotsync and Palm Desktop?

I can understand that problems happen and that you can't completely fix everything. Most of these problems occur through the interaction with 3rd party apps.

If they made the solutions more visible it would be an acceptable tradeoff. Plus, I don't know if this problem can occur with the new PD version.

Although I have Card Export I only use Card Reader. I like this app better.
