Hi all! I've been a happy TH55/U user for the past 2 years, just lurking :o But I've just picked up another (as a permanent replacement, relegating my US model to an emergency spare) - this time a European model with Bluetooth - so I figured it was time to come out of the shadows!

I've used various Palms over the years - starting with a Vx (which got hammered for Bejewelled and not much else), switching to a Tungsten T (which barely got used) before picking up the TH55 for use as an in-car sat nav with the cradle (a feature that I've never got working).

Mine gets used for finances (Adarian Money), books (PalmFiction), email (Snapper) occasional web browsing (NetFront) and IM (Mundu), and the usual note-taking and birthday reminders. Not a whole lot, but theres a full suite of IT-admin-emergency tools that come in handy from time to time too.

I've also started transcoding videos playable on my PSP/W850i/TH55... which makes me sound like a bit of a Sony fan. I'm not, but they do get things brilliantly right sometimes :)

Welcome, rogalian! There are too few of us nowadays. I agree that some Sony hardware is close to perfect and I still think that the '55 is one of those devices. I've never tried IM on mine. How does it work for you? Also, does Snapper work pretty well for you? I'm thinking about upgrading my Clie Mail and was thinking that maybe Snapper was the way to go. It's just so expensive I'm having trouble justifying it.

Happy to welcome another new member that likes the TH55 :)

LanMan: For email, I use the HTML version of Gmail with Netfront (notice here, it's not the mobile version. Netfront for Clie is good enough for an experience much better then cell phone browsers). As you don't need to "log-in and download" as with Snapper, which takes awhile, I feel that Gmail webmail with Netfront is much faster. Only problem is with composing mail, somehow linebreaks can't be inserted in Netfront, so I need to write them in Notepad first and copy them over.

LanMan: Mundu IM 4 is superb and well worth a trial (http://messenger.mundu.com/) - I don't use it daily, having curbed the amount of time I spend on the insidious messaging networks. As for Snapper, I use it with Gmail and have it auto-connecting every few hours. It works well enough for my needs, although I find the dual interface annoying (I like the two line approach used for "finger" control AND the slim scrollbar used for "stylus" control). I might try Agendus Mail at some point, as it also features the SSL support needed for Gmail.
