thanks yes, but you need to be do it from a DOS/CMD prompt ...
1. Plug your Clie into the cradle.
2. Performa hotsync - always best to make sure you have a backup.
3. Open a Command prompt ("Start|Run...|cmd")
4. cd \
5. format c:\ <= c:\ is the "Clie" drive.
6. go into your backup, remove the apps from the backup.
7. restore your backup.
Done.
Well ... something was done. Probably NOT what you wanted.
JackSprat is an app that has been used in the past, but the developers are not doing an updated version for PalmOS 5.x series devices. since they reside in ROM, not RAM, having them there isn't much of a concern - unless you are using JAckFlash, and loading apps into ROM. Not much of a solution, but all "helper" apps I don't use go into a category called "zHide", so they are all in one place, and can be easily ignored.

You can not remove programs from ROM yet.
You really should not give instructions on how to format your hard drive , some people will actually try it and succeed.

Yeah, that's just a little uncalled for.

If you are dumb enough to try that ... and follow the instructions as written. IT WILL FAIL. Unrecognised drive. OK, drop the slash after the c:\, and make it c:, AND IT WILL STILL ASK YOU FOR THE VOLUME LABEL.
Some people should not be let loose near a computer. Perhaps I am one of them
After my "instructions" - I then gave the ONLY useful information in this thread - that you may have heard of JackSprat but it does not work in PalmOS 5, and that the solution I have had is to move the apps to a category I never use. I also gave an explanation of WHY the files can't be removed - education is far more helpful than "nope", or "can't be done" responses.
Might I suggest that instead of format, you go fdisk yourself?
Is THIS response to your comment called for or justified - no, not at all. Just a harsh backlash at the AOLisation of the internet ... there is more to using a PC than "keyword: cliesource".
zohaer21 - The "instructions" I included were designed to fail. There is no panacea for your problem - but I do suggest you follow the advice in the remainder of my post. Sometimes it is best to leave the existing apps in place, and just ignore them. There are some launchers available that will allow you to hide categories so that you need NEVER se the category holding the unwanted apps (sorry - I don't use any of them - just the standard PalmOS launcher, and the CLie Launcher). This does not solve the problem, and is more of a cosmetic fix akin to sweeping the crumbs under the carpet - the crumbs are still there, but you gotta go looking for them.
For those that like this solution, and would like to put me in their IGNORE category, click on this link (http://www.cliesource.com/forums/member2.php?s=&action=addlist&userlist=ignore&userid=14264).

I am not. While i admit i did not pay attention to the slash, asking for a volume label would meen nothing to a lot of new users, they would simply press enter for none.

I applaud your helpfulness, it is always appreciated by someone.

What a nice fellow you are.

Well at least your being honest.

For many users, there is no more than that. If it suits thier needs it is no skin off my back.
