Does any one know a simple launcher with 480 display exactly like the one built in my Clie the only features I want is changing background image and the ability to move copy and delete apps from with in the launcher all the others (zlauncher, I spin, ect) take like 3 mb of space.
Thank you

ScrBtn is what I use, and it is simple, free, and uses the full 320x480. But, when I say simple, it is bare-bones, no background images, no file operations, no nothing. Just a launcher. If you want something a little more complicated, you might want to try AppShelf, it is something I'm considering to purchase.....

IMHO, iSpin is the best, simplest of the launchers that allows for wallpaper. Including a skin it comes in at <3MB (accroding to RExplorer). It's also pretty inexpensive when compared to the others. It my launcher of choice. I wish it were still being developed though :( . Make you if you decide to purchase it, that you do so from PalmGear (or some other software site) so just in case you don't receive the registration you can get your money back.

My choice would be appshelf. nice and simple, yet powerful and if you like, you can play with icons, wallpapers, skins and the like. I think there´s no other launcher that allows for transparent modules showing all kinds of stuff.

I was just about to recommend Appshelf, but then you wanted barebones. Appshelf is highly modular and if you don't need all the added stuff like extention modules and themes, I guess you could control it's whole footprint to within 1mb. The main application it self is just 613kb, and assigning a wallpaper requires an additional 300kb :)
Or to be really barebones, you could use the built in Palm launcher, and add wallpapers with Codediver. Yet codediver is kind of big. If you are using a OS5 Clie, you could use WPdiver(included in the codediver trial package) to make themes from photos, then use the themes with DTchanger to skin the builtin launcher. (all applications mentioned are easily found with Google)

How about LauncherX?
No one recomend Zlauncher :D lol
I would go with Appshelf, I love it, its small and it can be quite handy (launcher/with dayview and analog clock)
My setup is more PowerUser than Simple:

To Delete or beam an app, just drag the app to the green or red squares at the top of the screen, its that simple.
YOU COULD use the built in launcher in Resco Explorer which I find quite simple. Its also the best file manager for the palm.
After trying out most of the options, I settled on using the default launcher plus AppShelf. FileZ, Resco Explorer and UniCMD are available if you want to do anything fancier.
I also find that I use MyKbd launch menus for accessing my most common programs. There are other solutions out there too, like petitlaunch.

I... Realy... Have... No... Idea...
I was toggling it when I was messing around with the different modules... I guess I didnt notice it was still there :D

You are asking for features that do not exist in a stipped down, simple laucher. If you wanted a simple launcher that did not have backgrounds, I would have suggested CRS Launcher. Otherwise, you would have to consider ZLauncher, AppShelf or another, similar laucher.

How about LauncherX?No wallpaper support. That's probably the most requested feature for LX 2.0, if and when.
Otherwise, it's what I'd recommend. If you have an older device that doesn't use NVFS, you can get one of the earlier (pre 1.2) releases. Those would let you shrink the footprint by deleting non-essential code, and leave you with a resident portion of about 250KB. 1.2 releases removed that feature (though I hope to convince the developer to put it back.) 1.2.2.8 on my device takes 466KB.

It looked too crowded to me. Plus almost all the apps I use are either a DA or a favorite app, so I dont really need the minipad. It wasted space.

For what it's worth my choice is to use the built-in launcher with Hi-Launcher. The latter is souped up McPhling and is a very fine software by a clever Pole.
Also I try to use very few categories and like to stay in the All category. When not using Hi-Launcher I simply enter the first character of the name and tap on the icon.
This gives me fast access to my apps with a small footprint, stability and simplicity. IMO using large launchers unnecessarily complicates the device and slows access.

Okay guys I decided I'm gonna use appshelf, but I need some help since this is my first with the app
-Does anyone know where to get good themes for appshelf theres no folder in the freeware section.
-How do I hide some files because most of my app are on my card and the problem is its showing EVERYTHING in the Palm/Launcher folder not just the apps for example instead of just showing docstogo it also shows slideshow to go, sheet to go, word to go, pics to go, ect all the add ons that are not suppose to be shown. So I need to hide them some how.
-The icons in the all category are really nice and small, the icons in the card category are big and ugly how do I make them look like the ones in the all category?
And what bugs me the most is it takes a real long time to launch apps from card anyway to overcome that?
Thanks for your time :)

So I need to hide them some how.The Docs to Go components don't show on my device: only the main Documents app.
Which version of DTG are you running? I have v8.
One thing you can try: grab the Dataviztech.prc (http://download.dataviz.com/support/patches/documentstogo/dataviztech.prc) utility. (Direct download link) and install it on your device. Dataviztexch offeres an assortment of utility functions for Docs to Go. One is the ability to move DTG components from RAM to card and vice-versa. If you have sufficient free RAM, try using it to move all the DTG apps to RAM, then move them back to the card again. Do they still show up in your launcher?
And what bugs me the most is it takes a real long time to launch apps from card anyway to overcome that?Nope. Launching from the card is like launching from the hard drive on your PC. The program must be read from the drive, loaded into memory, and started. How hast that is depends upon how fast your device is, and what card you use. It will always be slower than having the applications in RAM.

Somewhere on 1src there are a couple of threads dedicated to AppShelf configuration, including links to modules and themes. A search for AppShelf should bring up the appropriate threads.
AppShelf allows you to set filters on what shows up for defined categories... however, what I do is make a category titled "Unused" and dump everything I'm not likely to want to run (background apps, helper apps, etc.) into there. This only works for RAM-based appls... for SD-based ones, just add a few filters in the category edit dialog.

To switch category views tap one of the buttons on the top toolbar (looks like a couple squares), and that will change to the next view (there are a bunch of views). I have also found AppShelf takes longer to launch card apps than other launchers, but I believe that has something to do with the way it imports/exports the app (most launchers just import the app, then upon exit delete the prc from ram, then store the databases and preferences in internal storage), but I think AppShelf actually saves the prc and databases/preferences back to the card. This creates longer load times, but can save internal storage.

You can configure AppShelf to use the standard PalmOS API to import apps from card. This should spped up card launches a little bit.

DTchanger is here (http://www.jade.dti.ne.jp/~imazeki/palm/DTch/index.html).
Select a theme and tap the first choice from the menu. The 2nd is to revert to original. (I'm sorry that I just noticed that there is no English version) The 3rd in the menu is settings, options to skin what, in top to bottom order: Clie launcher, wallpaper, graffiti area; standard launcher wallpaper, calender wallpaper. All are defaulted to "on".
It skins the graffiti area, Clie launcher (the jogdial based one), the Palm default launcher and the calender app. 2 themes are included with the package. If you want to use your own photos to make a theme, use WPdiver in the codediver package to convert, then apply the theme from DTchanger.
Note, DTchanger is Clie specific.

-Does anyone know where to get good themes for appshelf theres no folder in the freeware section.
There's some on the Appshelf website (2 zip files with several themes in them), they are called "frame files".
You could also find more Appshelf frames by doing a search here at 1src.
(I guess the main reason you couldn't find themes is because you didn't know they are called "frames", yet Appshelf is so minimalist that most frames look similar anyway...)
Put frame files in Palm/Launcher, them select them from menu > frame > choose frame
You could hide unwanted Docs2go components by using FileZ and setting those files to "hidden"
You could also just don't put your apps in Palm/Launcher folder. Here's an example how to show apps in other directories, for example: open a "Palm/Games" folder for your games and set a category for that. You might want to open that folder and move your applications over first.
1. Tap on your catagory list, select the last in the list to "edit categories".
2. Tap "new" to make a new catagory, from the catagory type list, choose "card app", then tap "next".
3. Name your new category and tap OK.
4. Now you are back at your category edit list, select the new category that you have just setup, tap "Edit".
5. Tap the last settings on that window, should be something like "target folder". (I'm using the Japanese version, so the label in the English version might be different)
6. Now you see a list of folders for Appshelf to search for apps. Delete "/Palm/Launcher" if you want, tap "new" to select your new folder, for example, "Palm/Games"
7. Now you're all set, you have a category that doesn't show apps in the Launcher folder, and you can now categorize your app on the card by folders :)
-The icons in the all category are really nice and small, the icons in the card category are big and ugly how do I make them look like the ones in the all category?
Try the 2 squares on the top status bar, right next to the category list.
The blue one with 3 squares is for app icon size and layout toggling.
The gray one with a rectangle is for toggling the extension area.
And what bugs me the most is it takes a real long time to launch apps from card anyway to overcome that?
Menu > basic settings (first from the top) > 2nd page > about launch methods (1st from bottom of window) > check the 2nd box from the top "Launch card apps using standard API"

You could hide unwanted Docs2go components by using FileZ and setting those files to "hidden"
You could also just don't put your apps in Palm/Launcher folder. The first option really shouldn't be necessary, and the second probably won't work as desired.
I used DTG starting with V4 on a Handspring Visor Deluxe. In that version, individual components like Word to Go did show as icons. I used the old freeware version of Launcher III, and simply put them on a hidden tab.
I currently use v8, and only the main "Documents" dispatcher app shows as an icon. The components do not. It sounds like Ammar766 is using an old DTG version. If so, using FileZ to set the Hidden attribute may help.
DTG will let you move most of it to a card. The main Documents app, the fonts, and the conversion library that handles "native" documents must live in RAM. Everything else can get moved. But if you do move it, it gets placed in /Palm/Launcher. If you put those files elsewhere, DTG won't see them, and it won't work.
Incidentally, nice to know that Appshelf can be told to look in other directories besides /Palm/Launcher for programs. I use LauncherX, which has that ability, and it's one of the most valuable features to me.

Here's a look-alike iphone launcher that I found at this website:

It has nice animations and can be accessorized.

Docs2go components other then the main app do show up in Appshelf if you use Dataviz tech tool to move them to the card. That's why I used the FileZ trick myself.
The other solution, sorry for not being clear, was to leave Docs2go components ONLY, in the launcher folder and put all other apps in other folders.

I don't understand what you mean by"icon view", please clearify.
As far as I know, on most Clies there is
1. the Palm standard launcher
2. the gray, jogdial based Clie launcher
On the UX, there is, in addition to #1,
3. OpenGL 3D Clie launcher
On the TH and VZ, there is, in addition to #1 and #2,
4. the Clie Organizer launcher
DTchanger can add a wallpaper to #1 & #2, yet I am not sure why it fails to skin #1 on my TH55... It worked on my NX73 flawlessly.

OK, so it doesn't work on your's either. I know the wallpaper function easily conflicts with other apps causing it not to work anymore, but never figured what it was.
Well, you still have Appshelf :) And If you like the themes included with DTchanger, Appshelf has an option to use that as your wallpaper, too.

Exactly! :) Thank you very much for the picture applicate it now can someone please tell me how to get it on my launcher the standard view I see you've done it.
I have the idea that we could just make it a skin so like when we go to the launcher Menu - Standard view - menu - Options - Preferences
Bliss will be in the "View by" drop down list.
