Is there a good replacement for built-in Memopad that is still current and supported? For instance, PhatNotes for Palm seems to have been discontiued a couple of years back..

Um..... new Palm's have a "Note Pad", and a "Memos" application. For the latter, I use PsMemo which is great, and for the former, I never even used Note Pad (exept to test Digitizer dead spots and drift!), but I use a full-fledged paint program called TealPaint (and yes, it is stable, well at least once I got done beta-testing it :) )

Does PsMemo sync with desktop? Or if not, is there a way to transfer files off the card, somehow?

That's the great thing, it uses Palm's Memos application database, so you add something in Memos, it shows up in PsMemo, and vise-versa. So sync as always :)

My choice is MemoLeaf which uses the built-in database, but allows much more and is well supported.

I use Alex Pruss' ChronMemo. I think you can find it in the freeware section here at 1src. Well maybe not, but you can get it at palmgear, http://palmgear.com/?xyz=129574.
It also uses the built-in memo database.
