UDMH/Warpspeed Success Stories?

Hi:

I'm wondering if folks who use either UDMH or Warpspeed could post some examples of how they find the applications useful. For example, I use Warpspeed and clock this software at this speed which allows me to get: better battery life or faster access . . .

Or UDMH settings for TCPMP allow me to watch such and such videos etc.

I've finally have Uncache set up fairly well and would like to hear how others are successfully using WarpSpeed and UDMH.

Let's see... I first bought WarpSpeed to improve the speed of my TX - my previous pda was a T3 and was noticably faster especially when using my launcher of choice (iSpin). Then I started to use it to conserve battery life mainly for my reader programs (Plucker and eReader).

UDMH is great for enabling PalmPDF to view in color mode. It also helps The Quest (a monster of a RPG game) behave better.

No, I mean WarpSpeed.

I have DynaClock running too, but keep it disabled most of the time. It only overclocks to 416MHz (my current TX can reliably overclock to 624MHz), cancels out WarpSpeed's whine fix and can cause lock ups in situations where software is expecting timings to stay constant.

your info was very usefull to me,
just wanna have your opinion what clockspeed settings would you recommend for Agendus, this program is known for its slowness, because it has to handle lots of databases at once, so i would like to know how i can make it work properly, Thanks in advance!

Well, my personal clock speed settings for Agendus after trying the trial are to set it to 0. Agendus just had too many resource issues for me on my TX; I ended up reverting to the standard calendar app and some third party helper programs (this way, only one needs to be loaded at a time, based on what I actually want to do).

The issue with Agendus isn't so much CPU speed as heap and cache space; I found I really needed to soft reset before and after using it for it to be fully responsive (and for everything to be responsive after using it).

It's not a typo: it slows things down a bit, but it's still faster than, say, a T|E. When using apps that mostly just sit there and display information, a slow CPU speed doesn't make much of a difference, other than in battery savings.

There are some applications that do their own dynamic memory management, and it isn't very compatible with UDMH, unfortunately. If an app crashes with UDMH enabled, the best solution is to disable it.

UDMH controls memory management at the OS level; the entire system is affected, except in the ways modified by the custom settings. The "Show ____k" line doesn't change the amount available, it just changes the value returned to the app when it asks how much is available. Most apps don't ask for this value, and so get the maximum amount UDMH can provide (and a low memory warning if they try to get more than is available).

To add to the list:
I generally use Warpspeed to slow things down and save battery life. The biggest exception is I use TomTom Navigator 6 at 520MHz in Warpspeed (BUS = 16, CPU = 5) and have UDMH clean up after it (TT6 does not require lying to about available memory for it to work).

Having seen that Em goes reliably to 624MHz I will see if I can go higher with mine (increase CPU to 6), but this limit is very Tx dependant (it goes higher for some & not others) so watch out for flaky behavior and throttle back.

Edit: Great! I have used the 624MHz for TT6 daily for a week now and it is stable as a rock. TX case is slightly warm to the touch. The improvement in route calculation time is really impressive; going from 312MHz to 520MHz improved things noticeably but this seems to have hit the sweet spot.
