Hi,

I just bought a TX. Every time I am starting blazer after datebk6 there is a warm reset. Is there a solution for this bug?

Have you tried clearing Blazer's cache?

Also, consider using memunfragment which will improve your heap usage.
It prohibits blazer from locking some a bit of memory exactly at the middle of the total available memory (which would lead to faster fragmentation and prevent certain apps from running). http://www.palmpowerups.com/downloads.php?cat_id=2

Hi alt236,

I just modified my post. I figuered that balzer only crashes after datebk6.
Is this memunfragment reliably? Is there a manual?

Its pretty reliable as far as I know.
Effectively what it does is that it stops blazer from receiving the system reset signal during the boot of your device. As a result it wont start then and lock the memory.
The downside is that hyperlinks from other apps might not work initially. They will though when you start blazer at least once.

Give it a go anyway. To remove it see this thread (http://www.1src.com/forums/showthread.php?t=111251)

Actually, the problem is being caused when Blazer tries to flush the cache when it starts up -- you appear to have some other program (possibly datebk6) which is not locking itself into DB Cache correctly. The reason it crashes after datebk6 has run is that Datebk6 fills up the cache, forcing the flush. To fix this, install Resco Locker (RLock) and use it to lock any apps known not to be NVFS friendly into cache -- this should fix your problem.

Of course, I'd also recommend installing memunfragment, as well as NetFront and/or Picsel Browser.

Hi _EM,

do I have to lock datebk6 or blazer?

No, both of those apps do proper memory management. The problem lies elsewhere; these just happen to be two large apps that force the DB Cache to flush when run one after the other.

If you have Resco Explorer, look for the list of apps that have memory resident hooks (apps that do stuff in the background) -- it's one (or more) of these that is causing your problem.

But why crashes blazer only after datebk6?

alt236

Because they are generally large apps. So when they load they wil try to flush the dbcache (thats especially true for blazer which is a bit aggressive on dbcache).

This means that they will flush something out which should have stayed resident. do you have any hacks or extensions loaded?

The only hack is tealglance. I don't know what an extension is.

Its not actually a techincal term :P

It means anything which changes the way your palm works on a system level.

Try disabling TealGlance and see what happens then (maybe you should just move it to card, thatīs gonna disable it all right).

extensions are programs that hook into system functions, such as the status bar or hard buttons or whatever - they just work by themselves, no startable app anywhere, maybe only some configuration utility, possibly in "Prefs".

I just updated tealglance and my problems are history. Thanks folks

I personally had a number of memory problems with several Tealsoft apps. I am staying away from their whole product line

I think those are more > OS4 targeted. And anyways, I only use TealPaint :) (which is rock-solid stable after I got done Beta-testing 7.xx  )
